I hope that's an old photo because he looks like he should be calling Johnnie Gaudreau "sir."

Heh, he does look a lot like a kid. Found another picture of him now where he's wearing a Buffalo Sabres cap, booooooooo.

Just found this beauty of Jonathan Dahlén. Wouldn't mind Chia taking this kid with his 2nd round pick one bit :D

Oilers hat!? It is meant to be.

many mock drafts have him going in 6th round.
edit: Button is the only one having him going in 2nd round... (~55th overall)

I say use one of the 3rds if he falls that far... Ive never seen the kid play so basing everything off stats car and rankings

I had to vote Chychrun. I hope we trade the pick, but if we have to take it I go for the best defenceman in the draft . I think that is Chychrun. As much as I like Tkachuk and Dubois we're stacked with left shot forwards. A young top line center or left wing is not even close to a need. We're stacked at LD too, but I don't see a 1 dman there.

Does this look like a 3rd rounder to you?

Redline Report Top 10:

1. Auston Matthews
2. Patrik Laine
3. Jesse Puljujarvi
4. Matthew Tkachuk
5. Pierre-Luc Dubois
6. Jake Bean
7. Tyson Jost
8. Alex Nylander
9. Jakob Chychrun
10. Dante Fabbro

Rising: Jost, Boris Katchouk, Logan Brown, Cliff Pu, Filip Gustavsson

Falling: Chychrun, Carter Hart, Dylan Wells

Where the heck is Sergachev ranked? Jake Bean is good but Sergachev IMO has looked better.

I guess I didn't read the paragraphs before the rankings well enough, but it sounds like Sergachev is 11th and Juolevi 12th.

You can trade from strength. If he is in Calder conversation, on an ELC, putting pucks in the net. You will get your D for him or whoevers job he took. AN ESTABLISHED KNOWN QUATITY PROVEN D...not one 4 years off before making real positive impacts.

Isn't the perceived problem with Bean size?

The problem with Bean is people have concerns he will be Justin Schultz at the NHL level.

Has defensive deficiencies.

I'm a fan of him personally. I think those can be corrected.

That was the same philosophy used for taking yakupov as well. A potential #1 d has a lot of value too. If you get the best dman out of this draft and he doesn't fit in with our time line he is still a great trading chip. It would be like having an expendable hanafin, or provorov.

Cliff Pu has had a great streak in the playoffs. Kind of the forgotten man in London as he was primarily the defensively responsible guy. But his offense has been on display in the playoffs. He's a playmaker so getting to play with Jones helps. But he can also really skate.

If you did take a defenseman it would be tough to pass on Sergachev for Bean. Sergachev will be 6'3"-6'4" probably around 220lbs, a great skater and with substantial offensive skills and some bite in his game.

Yakupov was clearly the best player in his junior class. Sometimes it does not turn out that players progress as anticipated. But if Yak right now was a 30-30 winger as many of us thought he would be he'd have a lot more value.

Hanifin and Provorov were both in the mix vs guys like Marner and Strome for 3-6 last year. This year I think it is safe to say that there is a clear gap between a guy like Tkachuk and the defensemen at the top of the pack. You can't ignore that. If your target is a defenseman I think you have to move down and get something more.
