The best recent comparable is that Lucic at 50% got the 13th overall from LA a couple of years ago.

I just don’t think Kreider carries as much value as Lucic did back then. He was recently a top player on a cup team, proven playoff performer, and had 3 seasons behind him that exceeding anything Kreider has done.

I appreciate the optimism, but I don’t see it. There’s just no way a top prospect is added as well.

I’m thinking Kreider + Georgiev is a fine offer to Edmonton at #8OA.

In regards to assessing fair value think of it this way, if you were trading kreider (1st line winger) and georgiev (solid backup, 1A-1B) in a package for an established NHLer, who would that player be?

I would think you'd want an established top 6 forward or a top 2 D. A guy like Tyler Myers or Brady Sjkei or Jeff Skinner. What would it take to get those guys? Just the #8OA? Or would you have to add? My guess is, add. It would be #8OA + good prospect or a conditional first or something.

Remove Georgiev from this deal. We don't know what we have in Shesty yet and Lundqvist is on the back end of his career.

Kreider and the NYR 2019 3rd for #80A and Pulijarvi and 2020 2nd round pick becomes a first if Kreider re-signs or if Edmonton makes it 2nd round of playoffs. This is a little bit closer to proper value. Though still undervaluing a first line power forward - even if he's on his last year. Possible the Rangers could retain 2m and get an additional pick. I'm not that excited about Pool Party. I think he's practically a throw in. But I don't love most of Edmonton's prospects.

Kreider is a legit top line forward. That makes him worth more than just the 8OA. Now we are throwing in another sweetener as well? Pass.

I just don’t see how one year of Kreider is worth the 8th overall. If we pull that much value in a trade, I’ll run a naked lap around my office. It’s not happening.

Ok. That's fine. But then they do not need to get Kreider. Full stop. If they want to make the playoffs THIS year, they will need to get McDavid immediate help, not future help. Kreider reprents an instant top line addition. If they do not want to pay market rate for a top line player, then they do not need to have him. Like I said, I would rather hold out until next year's TDL than make a deal at Draft for anything less than market rate.

We were able to make the trade with Arizona because Stepan had extra years and they were willing to pay a premium for that. 7OA + a prospect marginally more valuable than Puljujarvi for Stepan and a goalie marginally less valuable than Georgiev. To move for Kreider you need to be either a serious contender, or pretty sure he's gonna sign an extension. Avs look like the best fit to me.

No. People believe that there is a decent chance that he gets moved, so are trying to gauge market value. That is entirely different than coming up with ideas of how to ship him out because he is disliked as a player.

Why do you believe there is a good chance he gets moved? Isn't it primarily because his performance never caught up to what people expected of him?

Said it before and I'll repeat.... Don't trade Kreider unless NYR can get a similar deal to what Hayes got. With that said, Kreider should receive more seeing he is a superior player, IMO, to Hayes. If there is no such deal to be made, extend him!!

HI! I'm a Canadiens fan and I'm asking other teams fans what are the first need you have to adress with your first pick. The Canadiens needs to find a winger (powerforward or goal scorer) and secondly, a top4 D. Cheers!

Kreider for your 1st round pick will at least guarantee that he won't run over Price anymore.

But with our pick it will be Kakko

i got the podcast on now. where are we picking krebs that would piss people off? anything in the teens would be great value for him.

I think it's more to do with what happened to Krebs. Personally, I think the player casual fans will be disappointed with is Dorofeyev because they will look at his KHL stats and say "Oh, only 1 goal blablabla" which would be the same argument at the draft in Dallas last year when we picked Kravtsov.

Other folks must be seeing something I'm not.

I've now gone through probably 10 minutes of highlights from the top 30 prospects, so I'm not exactly an expert on the draft class, but Krebs just seems unspectacular in every imaginable way. He seems to have a pretty good IQ in terms of finding open space in the O zone, beyond that he seems average.

It’s because of his upcoming UFA status and the state of the rebuild. Nothing to do with his ability, other than the fact that they can get value for him.

I disagree. I think if he had progressed to where many people assumed he would, most everyone would want to keep him, now. The overall perception and expectations for him have certainly been downgraded.

It used to be he's only 22 (23, 24, 25...) as an excuse as to why he hadn't blossomed quite yet, but his career has been a virtual flat line. It's a pretty good flat line, but it's still a flat line.

im purely commenting on projection of how high he could go and where we would be able to draft him. ive seen lists having him in the 6-8 range so if were drafting him its at best in the mid teens. usually those "fallers" are the draft day steals that fanbases love the day of the draft.

Assuming this is about Kreider: He has reached his expected level, not his ceiling. If you would have said in 2009 we would get a 50-60 point player at 19th overall, a lot of people would be happy. He could have developed into more, but where he is right now, it's still a pretty good career he has carved out for himself
