There is always room for players like Mackie. Depends on if the team wants him in a third line role or playing 1st line minutes in the AHL. That being said Florida’s third line is not really a third line. It’s a very good line.Having a great pre-season. Is there room on Florida's roster for him this year?
He looked pretty good early on. One or two years of AHL time is completely reasonable at this point, and maybe he comes up later in the season like Evangelista last year.Saw him play last Friday; he was very disappointing. Just completely invisible out there.
I’ve felt like that end to end rush has always been there in his game.
He find another gear in the AHL or something?
Agreed 100%I’ve felt like that end to end rush has always been there in his game.
Watching him in the NHL, he still can stand out in that way and does a few things per game that catch your attention.
But it seems to me like he’s still close, yet not quite there yet with putting the amazing puck handles and occasional flashes of scoring brilliance into a consistent top 6/9 winger. I think he needs to get stronger, play a little less perimeter, and sometimes opt for the more effective play instead of the flashier play.
