There is still uncertainty. If he injures himself, he could loose quite a lot of development time. That would not have him ready to contribute for several years. But then the injury could cause him to drop to where the Rangers do not need to move an asset to get him and he may fall into their lap at 20. Tricky situation.

It might be tricky but if he heals up right and we're taking him that late it could be a big deal. He played for one of the shittiest team in the WHL but what I heard is he gives 100% one way or the other. The consensus by most of the draft analysts is he's top 10 or just outside the top 10.

Would it have any effect on us? Is there even prior precedent for a player to be bought out when a team is retaining salary on him?

not sure if its ever happened before, but if Spooner gets bought out it gets split between us and vancouver...we retained 23%. his buyout both in terms of $$ and cap hit would be 1.33 mil this year and next. so we'd be on the hook for 23% of that. so like $305k cap hit the next 2 years instead of $900k for 1 year

Fanspeak has some odd simulations. This is what i was able to pull for the rangers

Those rankings are way off. Fun exercise though, and the more you do it the more you familiarize yourself with some of the names we might see called at the draft in later rounds.

Right, but that would still mean his contract would be terminated – and we would then regain the ability to retain on a third contract this year.

I think.

I do not disagree. While I do not love Krebs, at 20 he makes for a fantastic value pick. But injuring the Achilles, is not the same as pulling a hamstring. Especially if there is a tear already.

Seriously though, I am a bit afraid of that a statement like this soon will have to be written in a past tempos (sp)...

Do the guys in charge now know what they are doing? Goals are up and it keeps going up, but they are making the same mistakes that were made in the past...

Not sure if I follow, bud....

What do you mean?

I don't use the term 'pipe dream' often, but that about sums it up.

Shift Seider, Beckman, and Bjornfot all up a pick and remove Newhook and you've still had a hell of a draft.

Keeps saying I need an offer code. Does anyone know it? I already RSVP'd like last week, so not sure what the deal is....
Deselect the Junior Rangers package and select "Standard Admission". It only lets you get 2 tickets per account, however. Try a couple more times if you don't get it the first time. I had to try a few times before I got my ticket.

Yeah still clicking on it and being mad stingy, lolol.... I'll keep trying :)

In terms of raw skill and skating style, reminds me of a Marc Savard or a Parenteau. A little closer to Parenteau in terms of skill package. Savard was a bit more of a playmaker. Brink's shot is something.

For those who have seen Brink play --- how is he along the boards? Did he have good combine numbers on strength? To me, that's a big determining factor in terms of how high he could go. It does not look like he has the speed to overcome his size. He's going to need to serious Zuccarello strength to push through checks.

He'll go in the corners, but isn't overpowering. He'll need to up his strengthening for next season. His biggest dilemma is his skating. Needs to work on his acceleration....

Trading Kreider at the draft has to land you a top 10-12 pick and a kid with some serious potential, with something else thrown in as well.

I really do t think we get that much in return. We haven’t seen a non superstar player with one year remaining pull that high a pick. Kreider straight up falls in the late teens early 20s, not 10-20, and certainly not with an A prospect in addition.

My preference is to trade Kreider now for a 2020 1st to a team we think might tail off. That draft is absolutely loaded with talent and depth.

The best recent comparable is that Lucic at 50% got the 13th overall from LA a couple of years ago.

I think the Rangers can get a similar pick or a 2020 pick from a bubble team that is under pressure to make the playoffs next season.

I'm looking at Edmonton, Arizona, Florida, Montreal, and Dallas. We already get Dallas' 2020 1st if Zuccarello signs there. Would they give up the 18th overall for Kreider with nothing retained?

Edmonton their 2020 1st? Montreal the 15th overall, Arizona the 14th overall or Florida the 13th overall for Kreider at 50%? I feel like there would be a taker somewhere in that group of teams.
