I think the most likely pick, out of this board's favorites, is either Cozens or Turcotte.

I can see Cozens, Byram, Turcotte, Zegras, Podkolzin, Newhook, Broberg- all depends on where we draft.

Optimist in me says we are way overdue with some luck, and maybe we do have a chance at that 1 or 2 slot. Instinct tells me #2.

Pessimist in me remembers 2005, and somehow always drafting out of reach of the drafts consensus top players.

I feel the optimism as well. As if, Hughes or Kakko will be a NYR.

or we can follow suit, out of the top15, 14 will become good-great NHLers... We will take the one that falters

Rangers are well within reach of the 5th worst record. That would be a good place to finish given how the season is unfolding. Let's keep it up. Some of those meaningless wins, and the shootout points sting, but not if one of the lotto slots are won

I'm not keen on Podkolzin, but between Hughes, Kakko, and the western trio rounding out the top 5, a very good player is there for the taking.

Say TB wins, and the Jets pick is at 26, there are some players who will slide into those slots that are going to be very good prospects.

I'd love to see a trade to get a pick in the teens, but that may not be feasible.

I'd love to draft Newhook but not with our first and I doubt he drops far enough for our later picks. I know the BCHL is a meh league but I have a good feeling about him.

If we're in the 7-8 range I don't see Newhook as a reach. But anywhere above that there's likely a better option on the board.

If you're talking about high value picks in the 23-31 range you could see guys like

Pelletier
Robertson
Heinola
Seider
Poulin
Tomassino
Suzuki

Out of those guys, I like Pelletier and Heinola, but don't know much about the others except Suzuki, who would be a DND for me. McMichael would be an awesome pick-up, but I think he goes in the teens, same with Caufield, Newhook and Kaliev.

Robertson is well thought of, but he might slide. There is no hype around him from what I've heard. I'm a big fan of Ryan Johnson. I don't think he goes deep into the 2nd. Outstanding skater, and very well coached throughout his development.

Alright, let's take most people's favorites off the board.

We pick 6th, and Hughes, Kakko, Cozens, Byram and Turcotte are off the board.

Your pick is_____________.

I always see people talking about the TB pick and who we would take with it, but nobody ever mentions the Dallas pick.

Moneypuck has the odds of TB winning the cup at 14%, and the odds of Dallas making the 3rd Round at 18%.

Tough, tough choice between Zegras and Dach.

I’d be equally happy with either, but at the moment, I lean toward Zegras. I think he’s a good fit for what we’re building.

Dach.

I'm not high on Turcotte as some.

Combination of people viewing the odds of Tampa winning to be higher, and the fact that they've had a year to think about it.

I agree, I just think it's interesting that after the Zucc trade people were so sure that neither Dallas pick would convert, but we don't tend to think that way about the Tampa pick.

I don't see Dallas getting past WPG or NSH in the 1st. Saw plenty of Dallas games live in recent weeks while I was down there. Bishop is stealing the show... which can happen in the playoffs, but the rest of the team is not playing like a team that can make a run.

They've got some very good checkers, and a tight system, but I don't see DAL outscoring a deeper team. You shutdown Seguin and Radulov, you shutdown Dallas.

I think Zuccarello coming back could give that team a big boost. Not to mention Benn.

They sorta remind of the 2014 Rangers honestly. Nashville/Winnipeg aren’t exactly rolling right now, I wouldn’t be shocked if Dallas squeaked by either team.

This is my nightmare situation because I have to pick between two guys I have rated pretty damn even. I grit my teeth and go with Dach. Just too enticing of a toolset mixed with size and elite hands.

Honestly, at this point, if we're not in a position to draft one of Hughes, Kaakko, Cozens or Byram I'm pretty much fine with the rest of that 5-10 crowd.

Right now, Krebs, but I'd be 2nd guessing myself for a while.
