rangers haven't been afraid to take overagers in the later rounds and seem to take at least 1 per draft. but based on rankings, the first round seems too early to take fagemo...if he makes it to the dallas pick he becomes a possibility but i'd be shocked if he was the BPA at 20

This kid had a pretty good game today:

Unfortunately, I was unable to meet him after the game haha

Since 2000, only 2 players aged 20 or higher were drafted in the 1st round. Viktor Tikhonov (ARI) and Tanner Pearson (LAK).

Is Leason really worth a 1st round pick?

I mean, he's definitely got the talent to be, but I'm worried he's dominating in a competition that he's more experienced in. Not saying that won't translate, but it wouldn't seem likely. As you mentioned, Tikhonov and Pearson were the only players to do so and had higher offensive upsides before their draft. I don't see the offense translating all that well for Leason, which doesn't merit a 1st, but I'm rooting for him to continue developing!!

Mora got relegated so its not in the SHL this year which is a bummer but still good to see he'll be the starter. hopefully he stays healthy this year and actually plays.

i'm over caring about 'wasting' the draft pick, all the other guys we've gotten certainly helps...now i'm just rooting for him to develop and make us all look dumb for being upset

The Allsvenskan and SHL aren't far off in playing/talent level. It's a relegation league, it's much different than that of NHL/AHL. So I'm not worried about Lindbom being in the Allsvenskan. If it weren't for his injury this season, he could've been a capable backup in Djurgardens. He did get a few games in for them this year once he was healthy. It's not wasting a pick, but it definitely wasn't the best given the other options available, at the time. Still rooting for him, though!!

Did anyone watch Seider just now for Germany? I just missed it but Seider was player of the game. Just wanted somebody’s take

Played very well on both sides of the puck. Had a goal as well. He's got very good legs and stick/body positioning. Very good at joining the rush, however, got caught going too low at times.

Does he make it to twenty though?

It depends. I think he still over plays himself offensively, but he's got a lot of tools to help his case. I would say if someone doesn't reach on him in the teens, then yes he'd be there at No. 20.

With that said, though, other players could still be there at No. 20 that could be better options long term.

ignoring for a second the chance of guys dropping...if you ranked players are there 20 guys that you'd be happy to get at #20? or does the list drop off before that and without someone falling to us you'd need to move up?

Good question!!

It's honestly very hard to dictate the way the draft will end up. With that said, I truly gauge the No. 20 pick as an "all scenario" selection based on how the draft plays out. I can see if there are falling players, the Rangers stick to that pick and snag a faller. If there are players they don't see fit, they could trade back. Or in the better case that a player from that top 10 range falls way far, the Rangers might use No. 20 and something else to move up. Anything can happen!!

So I guess to answer your question.... yes, there can be some 20 guys the Rangers could get at No. 20. It just might be considered a reach, a steal, or pretty much a fair selection based on how the draft plays out. It's very unpredictable.

I hope I didn't confuse you with that answer, lolol.... :)

Yeah I saw the game, Seider played really well. Comfortable and calm with the puck. Made good plays, no issues defensively. Scored on a good shot.

The big thing is to monitor his agility when skating defensively. Its just another level in the NHL. The difference is big. But from what I can tell, this kid could definitely get close to like Skjei skating. But its not extremely easy to tell in these limited viewings. I am a bit gun shy after seeing how some Euros really are pressured to their limit with the tempo in the transition play at the NHL level.

I think he is a bit too good to make it to 20 though, I think he could go top 10 even... Depends who is picking. I am not really seeing someone who screams franchise potential that just blows you away, he isn't on that level, but like he has all the tools, big strong and skilled.

man i gotta admit I am like a ping pong ball right now. Last week wanted to go forward with a Kaliyev/Dorofeyev/Tomasino to go with our #2 overall now after thinking about either Seider/York looks amazing. its a tough call. I mean if the Rangers like Seider you can't go wrong. Rolling out K'Andre one shift and Seider the next shift or heck even together would make me drool. I miss having a talented big RHD on this team

So we lose a very good pick with our second rounder going bye bye to Carolina BUT
we could potentially come out of this offseason/draft with Kakko-Seider-Fox plus more obviously. That's adding some serious talent not just quantity.

Two guys I wouldn’t mind adding to the prospect pool, John Farinacci and Ryan Siedem. Both guys going to Harvard in the fall. Underrated righty D and a righty shot center.

Thanks Ola. Especially if their is the yearly run on defensemen, he could go quicker than expected.

Yeah, but don’t feel bad cus it’s even possible that Rangers brass are doing the same.
I would even say we as a group are primitively just like Rangers war room. Some might say we’re better!:sarcasm:

SO sounds like Seider is a target at 20

I’m for moving Namestnikov for a pick

Taking Cally w Tbays 1st for their 2nd
