What if Chytil ends up being our #2 Center, wouldn't you rather target a sniper? Whether Chytil is C or W we still need a sniper/RHS.
You can never have too many centers!

Actually I believe the saying among GMs is that you can never have too many defensemen. And I'm mentioning it only because nobody here wants to draft defensemen.

Nobody?
The battle level for the USDP kids has been overlooked for a while this year, but that whole lot is tenacious. Despite their size, those kids get right back into battles to try to win pucks back and dominate opposing teams as long as they can, Zegras especially. The one thing I think gets overlooked with Zegras is that he’s got a snarl and attitude to him on the ice. He’s not a shy kid and isn’t afraid to have people wanting to go after him.
With time to cook and mature, Zegras’ game has tremendous potential to translate effectively to the NHL ranks.
When I see Zegras, I SEE an NHL player. Sometimes you can’t see that as clearly when observing a kid, even when they’re talented.
Very good situation with Winnipeg losing to St. Louis. The pick could be anywhere in the 18-22 range. Perfect room to pick up Bobby Brink or a falling player like Seider or reach for Bjornfot. I would say C. Caufield, but I'm pretty positive he'll go top 10.

What has to happen in the playoffs for the Rangers to get 18 or 19 from Winnipeg?
There are four opportunities to improve from 22OA:What has to happen in the playoffs for the Rangers to get 18 or 19 from Winnipeg?
So if Dallas and Vegas win their series we are guaranteed to jump up to 20?
I like the forwards significantly more. To be perfectly honest, I see a group of defensive prospects who look good to very good, but not necessarily great, or representative of the type of prospect I'd feel particularly inclined to trade up for.
True, but most observers (including @Edge) believe this draft (after Byram) leans heavily towards the forwards in terms of overall talent. As opposed to last year, for example, which was a much more defensively weighted draft (just look at the Rangers' picks after Svechnikov). That's true every year. Forwards are flashier and have better stats. They also develop faster. But great teams have great defensemen: look at the Cup winners - Potvin, Coffey, Leetch+Zubov, Stevens+Niedermayer, Lidstrom, Pronger+Niedermayer, Chara, Doughty, Duncan Keith, Letang. You can sometimes get away with just a good, but not great defense in the back, but normally you need guys who are All Stars most of their prime.
Big time defensemen matter. Not just: "he's one of the 62 best defensemen, so he is a first pair guy."
