Changes are coming for sure in Winnipeg. Chevy surely won't be pleased with two years in a row without a conference championship after spending two consecutive first round picks at the deadline for players that were supposed to be the missing piece.

Big summer for them. Laine disappeared after Game 2. He and Connor are due big money this summer. I have a feeling only one returns to Winnipeg next season...

IMO Connor is a passenger. If Laine is even 1% available I’d hope Gorton is spamming Chevy’s phone.

Personally, for the money that Laine is going to get, I pass.

He's a guy that will put up great numbers in the regular season. He'll be a yearly mortal lock to pop in 35 or 40 goals. But that's it. He doesn't drive play and depends on Schiefele and Wheeler to feed him. That's not worth over 10 million a year to me.

Another top 5 pick would cap this rebuild. Then, I’m ready to get moving at that point.

Favorite dream:

Columbus & Dallas in conf. finals - end up with picks 19 and 28.

Trade Kreider for 14.

14 and 28 for 9. (Anaheim ends up with three firsts as well)

Take Kakko at 2

Zegras at 9

Move 19 and 58 for 15

Take Söderström at 15

Take Korczak at 37.

Dallas resigns Zucc.

Dallas becomes a bubble team again.

Rangers land top pick in 2020. Also have a Dallas pick in the teens.

2019 results in Kakko, Zegras, Söderström and Korczak.

2020 results in Lafreniere and a high reward defensive prospect.

A boy can dream.

Of course the Rangers would get two wingers with their lottery picks lol

I’m hoping for Byfield or Lundell

Anyone think Florida might move the 13th pick? I'm sure they are thinking about signing Panarin, but if for some reason they don't believeas that will happen maybe they would like Krieder as a fall back. They would need to figure that out before the draft, but maybe Columbus wins the Cup and Panarin signs a champagne soaked contract right there in the winning locker room.

Florida's biggest issue is goaltending. They have Luongo and Reimer and after that Montambeault and really nothing else. Luongo is really old and can't play successive games. Reimer's not really that good. If they had average goaltending they might have made the playoffs. They're supposedly in on both Bobrovsky and Panarin and maybe the two Russians would go to them in a kind of package deal because I think to make it work those two will have to give Florida a bit of a discount---like sign for $7.5 mil each. That would give Florida about enough wiggle room to get rid of Reimer and maybe sign a few players at the league minimum to field a 20-21 man team while at the same time staying on the good side of the cap. Florida may not be able to trade Reimer--they may have to buy him out.

There is the no taxes in Florida thing--there is Panarin's former coach Quenneville thing. The Panthers have a number of big contracts so it ain't going to be workable to get those two I don't think unless those two are willing to be very generous. Goaltending though IMO is their Achilles heel--they've got some very good offensive players.

Which is a way of saying that I don't think Panarin to Florida is as slam dunk as some people might think.

We are still missing the SNIPER!

And so much more. Size on our defensive prospects.

We have 5 picks in the first 2 rounds of the draft.

We have to come out with Kakko and a big time sniper and one great, sizable defensive prospect.

(that third 1st rounders from Dallas would help immensely towards securing these three objectives.)

If we had those two wingers, I think we’re in a great shape from a forward perspective. Because Zibanejad is certainly good enough to skate with either, and I think the same potential exists in someone like Zegras.

I go back to conversations this board had about Zibanejad a few weeks ago. I believe if Zibanejad can maintain his level from this season, the Rangers could win with him - just not as their best player.

You get into a scenario like above, and he could end up being their third best forward. Hell, in that scenario, one of Chytil, Zegras and Kravstov could do just about everything right and still be our sixth best forward.

I’m not really the guy to ask, I haven’t seen a ton of him. @Edge would know. He looked Tavares-ish to me in the bit I’ve seen but that’s based off verrrry limited viewing.

Elite, franchise player talent.

One thing that is almost cartoonish about Lafreniere is his ability to control and hold onto the puck. It’s almost comical at times because it looks like there’s a magnet connecting the blade of his stick and the puck.

Exceptional movement, exceptional hand-eye coordination. Definitely has a shot to be the premiere wing of his generation.

Poulin isn’t gonna be there lol

I hope you’re not shocked when he’s gone becore 25.
We shall see. I think he slides. But with all that said, the Rangers do not often dip in the Q so I am not hanging my hopes on him. But at his topside, he can be another Simmonds.

That's why I think we should do what it takes to get Caulfield. Need a RHS BADLY
