You haven’t looked at who is on the fourth line of cup winners.

Even our Cup loser had guys like Pouliot and Moore who were better than Hunt clearly.

Pouliot was a third line player with Brassard and Zucc, not a fourth liner

Boyle Moore and Dorsett were the 4th line. You can argue they were better players than Hunt, sure (Dorsett not really but boyle and Moore sure, they both scored 18 points in the regular season)

That was one of the best 4th lines the Rangers ever had. This current fourth line couldn't wash their laundry.

National embarrassment.

For the Panthers

My post in the roster thread inspired you!

10 of Kreider's goals are deflections, 16 are tap-ins, 5 are wrist shots, 1 snap shot and one empty netter he skated in.

So 26 of Kreider's league-leading 33 goals are directly around the net, mostly garbage goals.

But when Lafreniere gets a tap-in it's unacceptable? Lol.

How has nobody mentioned this yet?

A goal is a f***ing goal.

Here are Lafreniere's first 8 goals of the season. I think he's doing just fine.

biggest problem with their current fourth line IMO is that they just aren't good defensively. When they get going they can forecheck well and they'll pop in some goals. Rooney is a good forechecker/offensive player for a fourth liner, Reaves isn't as bad as I worried he'd be, and if the third player was Hunt I think they'd be alright, but they struggle mightily if they have to play defense which is really what lets them down as a fourth line.
If they can get on the ice and get the puck deep and cycle they can be very effective but if they get trapped in their own end it's ugly as hell

I remember Boyle and Moore being a lot better defensively

Honest question.. forgot about previous games. Are you not happy after a win? Or at least a win when they play well for the majority of the game?

I've only read the past 4 pages of this thread but all your posts still come across like you hate the team. Like, whats the point?
Happy but that doesn't erase the team the Rangers are or the three horrendous games that preceded this one that are a lot closer to what they usually do. This one win didn't change that. They need to do that consistently.

Captain Kreider has a good ring to it but I like the no captain/everyone a captain approach. I'm a huge fan of it.
I think the bigger point is that I would rather have a captain that doesn't need a C on his jersey bc everyone knows he is the guy as opposed to putting the C on a jersey for the simple sake of naming a captain. The players figure it out, they will tell you who their captain is and you can see it with this team, C or no C

Could you link that article please
Are the Rangers legitimate Stanley Cup contenders?

You need an ESPN+ account to read it though. The quote I'm referring to is here:

"Panarin has contributed 20 points to that power play and has 1.20 points per game this season. That's a dip from his average over the previous two seasons (1.38), and that has Younggren somewhat concerned.
"He's declined drastically over the last one or two seasons and continues to struggle, especially defensively," Younggren said. "Getting Panarin back on track is maybe their biggest non-systems-based issue.""

He is an Islanders fan in disguise. All time troll job cover

Good effort today. Great second half of the game. We saw moments of extreme confidence from Lafreniere in this game. That is what I want to see. You see how scary he is when he becomes determined to intercept passes and shoot immediately. Or anticipate passes, the game is slowing down and his confidence is starting to show. I saw minors Laf today. You love to see it.

Well said. Definitely a welcome sign, he looked great tonight. Hope that line stays together.

All the other games that also have them sitting with a 29 13 4 record without this one.

This team is insanely frustrating, but good teams findba way to win. They keep winning. They are a good team.

An instantly frustrating good team.

If you want to constantly be negative about your team than these guys are looking for applications for new fans, I'll write you a reference: New Jersey Devils
It's over your head at this point. It's ok, one day maybe you'll understand. Do yourself a favor and go rewatch the previous three games and let me know how you think they played in those ones.

Oh and I always love the corny "OH YOU CALL OUT THIS TEAMS OBVIOUS FLAWS YOU MUST BE DEVILS/ISLANDERS FAN"

Get some new material.

It's like you memoryholed the last three games this team played but ok. Sure, this one game proves they are an amazing team. Best in the league. You've shown that this team has zero issues and this one game for sure proves it. Forget all the other games where they played like absolute garbage, this game proves it!
I don't think any of us are saying they are the best team in the league. Sure they still have plenty to work out BUT they are a TEAM. They have had a horrendus schedule and yet they are far better than last year.

If your retort to my earlier comment is that it's over my head than you are clearly just ducking. I posted this before and you avoided it for obvious reasons.

A couple weeks ago all you did was discount the record against the teams outside of the top seven or so teams, and you kept pointing to the record against those top seven or so teams as a reason why this is not a good team necessarily.

Now that they be a few of those teams that are in that top seven suddenly those winds don't matter because they played poorly against the other teams.

This team can be maddeningly inconsistent but the bottom line is that it's a team that wins games, and it's winning it with about a third of the roster being AHL quality players. At some point you have to accept the fact that they are not a bad team. They are an incredibly frustrating team at times, but they're not a bad team. Bad teams aren't 30 13 4

And there's a difference between pointing out obvious flaws on a roster and literally projecting that you're happier to see the team lose so you can try to prove that you're right versus watching your team win and prove you wrong. I don't know if you understand that or not, but that's exactly what you project, that you would rather see this team absolutely implode so that you can run around here and say you were right about how bad they were then to actually see the good that's coming out of it

I agree, but I can still be happy and enjoy a solid win without getting all, 'they need to do that for 35 more games and 2 rounds of the playoffs before I'll even think about cracking a smile.' Hyperbolic? Yes. But that's the gist of it.

Can you not take it for what it is? An enjoyable game that had a very solid outcome and move on? You may have posted one at some point. I dont read everything, but I honestly can't recall seeing a single post from you that was 'awesome game. Let's see if it's the start of something.' It's always, 'welp, that was an outlier and this team is shit and you're all fools for enjoying it.'

It's a broken record.
