Dubas is a goof. He did have a good TDL this year but he’s spoiled his stars like little children.

He definitely made mistakes early on in his tenure, but he’s a good GM that’s very young. Good at making trades and drafting. But he needs to jettison one of the 4 this offseason if he sticks around

Has he even made a good trade that actually led to team success?

NHLTradeTracker.com and find Dubas. 25 trades with what exactly to show for it?

See above. 25 trades. With what to show for it? 1 round win in 5 years?

GMs have been fired for less with more to show for it

The Tavares contract is on him and is an anchor

I know Lombo is a fan favorite, but right now, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

He played the first 4 games of the Bruins series and we went 1-3. As soon as he was forced out of the line up we won 6 straight and cleaned up the Leafs in 5.

Ride the hot hands, leave the line up as is. Lomberg will have his spot back next season, but right now do not mess with what got you to this position.
I thought about exactly what you said also and think you’re spot on. But then I also think if maybe he can help that 4th line somehow. I was legit scared every time they were out against Toronto. Lomby does have a ‘big goal’ in him sometimes and we might need that. He also has a little chemistry with Staal.

I could go either way honestly.

It's def a thought. My only rebuttal is the 4th line was bad against TOR. It needs help. Gonna nod to Maurice here.

I think you throw him in and if he’s not up to task you should see that almost right away.

Meh it’s an incredibly hard league to win the cup in. Every GM has blemishes on their record that doesn’t get forgiven unless they win it all. Yzerman was the golden boy and Detroit still doesn’t look great; Jarmo gave Gudbranson how much? Brisebois looks foolish in the Jeannot deal so far.

Alright. Bored AF at work with an hour left and still need to wait another day before we meet our days of reckoning

Lets do this short activity.

Rate the Overtime Winners in Franchise History.
Rules
1. Scoring goes from 1-10 with .5 grades being allowed (9.5) etc.
2. No overtime winner may have the same score. Meaning you can only have one 10, one 9.5 etc. Just to make it more exciting.
3. Optional Rule: You may provide two scores. One for the actual goal (skill, style, who etc) and one for significance of the winner. But no score may be alike similar to rule 2.

Personally I don’t like messing with the flow of things or shaking things up when you are coming off a win. But so far Maurice’s decisions have been pretty spot on in these playoffs, so I have no reason not to trust him.

If it were December right now, I’d be all over scrutinizing the move lol

Dubas gives me Tallon vibes. He seems very good at like getting picks and stuff like that. Building a team? Absolutely useless.

The only thing he probably shouldn’t have done was sign John Tavares. A great player but 11 mil per year for the back half of his career was bound to have a negative effect on the team’s cap. That had a serious effect on the young stars and they got paid crazy money at the time cuz they had Tavares’ contract to use as comparison. Dubas has done a lot to bring in the best guys he can since then but that kind of cap problem might not exist if not for that signing. And that has held them back.

Tallon was good at finding NHLers in the draft but his best trade by far was bringing in old man Jagr. It worked out really well but for a 10 year span that was his best move outside of drafting. But I can’t think of another trade that even comes close to that in his time. That’s not good enough.

Zito in comparison has made some questionable moves, but most of the trades he made have been winners.
