1. Or the first time the decision comes as to who takes the final shot.
2. Kobe is going to be the NBA's version of Brett Favre when it comes time to retire or step aside.
1. If I were Byron Scott, I'd rather give it to Kobe instead of Carmelo; Carmelo deserves to get dissed, "no ring like Ewing", for being a ballhog.

2. No. I'd rather see him develop talent than hold them back, post-retirement.
I'm thinking/hoping that Kobe will eventually force a trade.
No; that's as sacrilegious as the idea of trading Derek Jeter from the Yankees.

Seeing him in another jersey would be painful.
2nded.
I can already see the comments from idiots on the Lakers' Facebook page if Melo signs.
Before season: "Ring$ Ring$"
When reality hits: "FIRE [coach's name]!"
Again, Carmelo is a ballhog, to the point I even saw him implode on that 51-point game the Knicks lost against a Los Angeles Lakers team that had Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, and Steve Nash out of the season.
I always laughed my ass off when people constantly complained about D'Antoni this year. That roster was straight garbage. PMS said one day that they had seen more talent and a higher compete level on women's high school teams.![]()
D'Antoni does not even believe in defense, to the point Gregg Popovich owns him in coaching. See 2007 NBA Western Conference Semifinals for reference.

Bunch of haters in here geeze, a down year or 2 and it like everyone loses their minds. I would expect the Laker hate in the ducks boards but not here
I will just leave this here to remind you: http://www.nba.com/lakers/history/year_by_year.html
I bet fans of other NBA teams cannot handle the pressures of being a worldwide team like the Lakers; even Kobe Bryant endorses Lenovo in the Philippines.

Translation: "No abandoning (always by your side)"
Coaches are to Lakers fans what goaltenders are to Blues fans.
Don't get me started when Lakers fans demanded Phil Jackson, right before STAPLES Center opened, let alone the 1999-2000 NBA Season, while that analogy is weak because St. Louis is a baseball town.
Off-topic, but this is STL's pro sports hierarchy.
1. St. Louis Cardinals, MLB
2. St. Louis Rams, NFL (Georgia Frontiere's fault)
3. St. Louis Blues, NHL
