Looks like I drank the Kool-Aid.
Then, whose idea was it to trade for Kwame Brown to begin with?
That trade denial by the NBA actually hurt the league, PR-wise, in the long run more than it did hurt the Lakers, especially when the Lakers have a worldwide mystique like the Yankees do.
Also, what was Jim thinking when he hired "literally no defense" D'Antoni? Byron Scott is the most appropriate candidate and he went to the NBA Finals before.
Phil Jackson actually prompted the trade FOR Kwame, remember he was gone for that one year when Rudy T took over as coach, started drinking again under the pressure (allegedly) and quit like 1/2 way through the season (retained as a scout though). When Phil came back the next year he needed a center and suggested he could unlock the secret that was Kwame Brown (traded a pick and Caron Butler).
All reports show that Jim and Mitch approached Phil after they Fired Mike Brown, but Jerry Buss on his death bed (and Kobe's endorsement of D'antoni's offense) convinced Mitch and Jim to hire Mike D.
Byron Scott is a Laker, and may very well be the next coach but there are serious doubts about his coaching ability. For example he did goto the finals twice but that was with Eddie Jordan as his main asst coach...the same Eddie Jordan that Mike Brown brought in to teach the Princeton Offense in LA that lasted about 10 games until all those coaches were fired.
