Oh boy, here it comes already. Cleveland fans flipping that switch. It must be really ****ing awkward when you'll need to buy a new jersey after burning the previous one. Is Dan Gilbert gonna welcome him back with another letter in Comic Sans? Will they start serving crow at the games? This entire thing is such a joke.

I think his new letter to the fans will include Wingdings.

Sources say Houston Rockets trying to trade Jeremy Lin to the Los Angeles Lakers. Report now on @SportsCenter
--------

Haha!

Houston would have to give LA assets in addition to Lin in order to make that trade. Lin's cap hit is around $8 million but he is paid something like $15 million for next season.

So Lakers presumably would take Lin on if also given draft picks and/or young players. Not a bad move if Melo and Gasol are going to go elsewhere as it appears. Take on expiring contracts and do a sign and trade and make the best of it.

LBJ going back to CLE isn't surprising at all. As I've mentioned in the previous post, I think it would have been a classy move to go back taking less salary, than to take the maximum.

Jeremy Lin and future first round pick to Lakers, source confirms
-------------

Enjoy winning 35 games laker fans, and most likely not having a first-round pick, unless they get the Houston pick in 2015 (but big-whoop, a pick between 23 and 30).

Lin makes sense, they get some future picks (to use in future trades) and Lin comes off the books next season preserving max slot cap space to make a run and the 2015 class (marc gasol / kevin love). He also is a really good player and could come back if it works out.

Not sure why we would bash trading for Lin, he is better than Farmar / Blake / broken Nash / Kendal Marshall and expires after this year. they have to pay him 14 million but only 8 counts against the cap they have a ton of room still if they want to use it.

Still waiting for more moves though...

You are gonna be scratching that off your list in the coming weeks when he gets traded to Cleveland.

I don't know if I agree that Lin's a "really good player", but I tend to agree with everything else you've written. Heck, we have the cap space, why not use it and obtain a 1st while we're at it.

i see it like this, NBA teams with lots of cap space can come out of the FA frenzy period a few diff ways:

1: go after a big fish and catch it
2: sign multiple mid tier guys
3. help other teams shed salaries by taking assets from them in return. This is a good tactic as long as the salary dump is a short term contract.

the above 3 we would say are positive outcomes, what happens all too often though is:

4: go after big fish, fail, then panic and sign next tier guys for more than they are worth

Guys like Parsons (15 mil a year are you serious?) or Hayward (max contract really?)

Anyone looking for the Lakers to sign a name just for the headline is going to be let down, if they strike out on their big fish they will make some moves to gain assets (like the Lin trade) and try again next year...they will not sign players to stupid contracts just to fill seats like other teams have to do.

Also their vegas odds to win title went from favorites at 3-1 to 50-1

Wade may be the biggest loser in this opted out of last 2 years @ 42 million to try and keep Lebron wonder what happens to him.
