Stupid move by Bosh. Good luck trying to recover that loss.

I think you meant Wade, who now stands to lose $25 million over the next two seasons by opting out (there had been speculation he would make it up on a six-year deal with MIA but you have to wonder if MIA is going to do that with the damaged goods that he has turned into).

Meanwhile, Bosh is going to get a max deal with Houston, 4 years at $96 million.

David Aldridge ‏@daldridgetnt 30m
Miami has offered Bosh the full five-year max deal to stay, per sources. Bosh hasn't decided between that & Houston's four-year max offer.

Hold the horses. LOL

HOU still needed to dump those contracts so even if they don't get Melo or Bosh it was a good move for them.

Curious to see if Gasol resigns or if they work out a sign and trade...would be surprised if he just leaves without helping the Lakers out if its possible.

Xmas game pretty much guaranteed to be CLE vs MIA now

*edit Gsol turned down 2 yr 10million/yr from Lakers...so now hoping NY or CHI can sign and trade LA some assets for him in their effort to get Melo.

I love Jordan Hill! By far, my favorite Laker.

Meanwhile...

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Pau Gasol turned down a two-year, $10M-plus per deal with the Lakers, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. Likely moving on

Pretty sure they are filling the salary floor (which is 90% of the max CAP; think Buffalo Sabres), otherwise makes no sense.

also the Hill deal has a team option for year 2. So if they can grab Love, Marc Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge in 2015 they will decline that 2nd year option.

so a repeat of last year to a degree, more young guys they will look at and a roster of short term guys as they continue to hold their cap free in 2015 and 2016 FA classes.

My jeebus are Laker fans the most spoiled/entitled fans on earth or what? My Lakers boards are totally unreadable right now with all the pissing and moaning. I have watched them win 10 titles in my lifetime maybe that helps with the perspective.

Its like nobody remembers the 90's or the Kwame Brown/Smush Parker years...

the Howard/Nash trades were huge gambles, the exact kind the notorious poker player Jerry Buss would have jumped on. They didn't pay off and put them in a hole but they are at least digging themselves out and not digging it deeper by giving out stupid contracts.

Max Kellerman, the moron, is fueling the fire right now on 710, him and his partner today one of the dumb **** Kamanasky brothers, just don't understand the CBA at all. Lakers clearly are setting themselves up for future years but these guys rather court controversy.

Such is the state of sports talk radio in Los Angeles.

Would probably be a good idea for the Lakers to hire a coach. Kind of tough to recruit players when they don't know who they'll be playing for.

I have no idea what they are waiting for. Kobe has already endorsed Byron Scott, who most agree is the best qualified candidate.

I haven't listened to it, but I am guessing he is criticizing the signings of Young and Hill? If so, he's not entirely wrong, they burned something like $15M of their summer of '15 cap space by signing those two, plus $3M for Randle when he signs. Add to that kobe's $25M in 15-16, and you are right up against even having one max slot, much less the two that they were hyping when Dwight left.

Now, if by the "future" you mean summer of 2016 (Durant), then you are correct.

Well, without getting into your whole post, they only burned one year on the Hill deal because the second year is at a team option. So they basically can free themselves up $9 million to perhaps sign one of the players took120s mentioned above.

Also, Jeremy Lin's contract is expiring. I can see the moves the Lakers made that actually give them a lot of available cap space not only for 2015 but possibly 2016 as well, as you surmised.

Didn't know that, assumed both years were guaranteed given the gross overpayment that has gone on this off-season.

To put into context, Nick Young is now making about the same as Luke Walton did. I approve of this signing.

He actually repeated what Ron said...but as usual Ron overreacts to everything. Kellerman is just lucky he didn't post it on Twitter.

Bottom line is the Lakers are gonna be bad for a long time. They aren't making the playoffs this year, and don't have their 1st unless they finish bottom 5. So the Lakers will be in the super deadzone. And because of this terrible outlook, nobody wants to sign with the Lakers (not to mention having to deal with Kobe). And now the 1 player they mighta had a shot at is trying to angle his way to Cleveland. Lakers better pray Randle becomes Barkley right away...
