Yeah, for those who've never seen the Showtime with Magic Johnson and Co., those were the days! Magic could do it all. I can still recall him playing center against the sixers in the finals because Kareem was injured, and scoring 42pts to clinch the championship. And he did this in his rookie year!!! Man, I miss those days. :(

I can still remember when Magic had to announce his early retirement due to aids virus. One of the saddest days I can recall.

Is anyone else disgusted with LBJ and his 2 yr contract, where he can opt out after next season, so he can make more money with a new TV deal???

Pretty savvy of him, if anything. Since he embraced his role as "The Savior", then I won't find it hard to believe he'd take it as far as having a major role in the franchise to the point of ownership.

Also, Reclamation Project, Miami is an NFL town; even Gloria Estefan owns a share of the Dolphins and she lives in Miami. :naughty:

It would be hilarious, if he did opt out and signed with MIA. Man, if that were to happen, his family would need security 24/7.

Halos on fire!! :handclap:

If Scioscia hadn't been so clueless with the bullpen early in the year (using Frieri) the Angels would be well into first place, once DiPoto traded away Scioscia's little toy there is nothing to complain about the way he has managed the team.

Believe me, he won't, this time around. Besides, this time around, both LeBron James and Dan Gilbert are the only star player/owner duo that is in perfect position to win Cleveland its first pro sports championship since 1964, let alone the Cavaliers' first-ever NBA title, and they are well-aware of it.

I would be if I wasn't so tired of his act. ****er just wears me out.

Seems like this AssClown™ * is a walking GongShow™ **.

* First dibs to Brad Doty.

Who did he trade?

I'd still like to see Mike Butcher let go. He's replaced Mickey Hatcher as Scioscia untouchable coach no matter how bad he performs.

I check out the Lakers board lakersground.net from time to time. They are in full melt down mode over there. I'm not aware of a more spoiled, entitled group of fans than the Lakers have. I base that on what I hear on sports radio and that website.

The Lakers have won 10 championships since 1980, and I think have had another 6 Finals appearances since then. It's been a whole 4 years since their last title and all these fans seem to do is bash and complain.

I bring it up because I hope with a few more years of success that Kings fans don't become like that.

The Lakers swung for the fences (so to speak) when they traded for Howard and Nash and it failed miserably, particularly since all those late first round picks they thought they were giving up are now going to be lottery picks. Without much talent, they can't swing trades for an impact player. So they tried to land a big fish in free agency, which was their only viable option at this point. Not surprising that it didn't work out, but absent finding a time machine there isn't much the Lakers can do in the short term.

I'm not familiar with the site you're referring to, but aren't the majority of the fans, fairly young? Also, I'm thinking not many understand the cap/business side of basketball, nor do they really care. Just my 2 cents...

lakersground is where i lurk too. Yes a ton of younger fans but I have been there since 2005 so I pretty much just skim for the handful of more knowledgeable posters that seems to be more levelheaded. Kinda like i do here.

I know im old when the new fans are not even that well versed on the Shaq years let alone the 90's or showtime.

I hate to drop philosophy into a sports debate but I'd love to discuss why feeling entitled when you are entitled is a negative. Lakers fans absolutely should feel entitled. They have been given everything the wanted every time the opportunity has come up. In the process the Lakers have become very successful. New regime has purged the Lakers of rational thinking. It's not our fault for being entitled. We simply have to become humbled and accept a little bit of defeat.

Puig: Zero home runs and saw about 12 pitches, made 7 outs. Might be the worst attempt at a home run derby by a player I've every seen. Kershaw would've done a better job.
