Dodgers, Angels, Rams, Lakers, and Clippers Discussion IV

Yankees want to say hi. :naughty:

Couldn't resist doing the ring argument.

By the way, I notice the Dodgers are becoming "Out of sight, out of mind" here in L.A., especially when they're exclusively in Time Warner Cable; in contrast, even the Lakers are in basic cable, alongside the Kings.

The lakers had a similar dispute when they formed their own RSN, dish still doesn't have it two seasons in, so i've been told.

As long as TW demands a 6-7 dollar carriage charge per subscriber with the other TV companies, it's going to stay that way. I personally don't want to add that to my bill just to see them.

Meeks is one of the few lakers I actually know of and liked.

I witnessed the Lakers dynasty, by the time I arrived here in America. I still remember names like Lue, Luke Walton, Derek Fisher, Robert Horry, A.C. Green, Rick Fox, Devean George, Samaki Walker, Mark Madsen, Horace Grant, and of course, Kobe and Shaq; back when the Lakers were wasting Kobe's prime years: Chucky Atkins, Chris Mihm, Smush Parker and Kwame Brown.

Also, I just missed out on a Don Newcombe replica jersey tonight.

I remember reading when the Kings were chasing UFA Brad Richards they had a video produced and presented to him. I don't remember any specifics of the video but I wonder if it was as elaborate as The Lakers presentation to Carmelo Anthony:

Executives from Anschutz Entertainment Group and Time Warner Cable pitched him on the size and scope of the Los Angeles market. Movie producer Joel Silver put together a four-minute "trailer" of Anthony's life, narrated by Tobey Maguire.

Silver, who produced "The Matrix," "Die Hard," and "48 Hours" movies, was also in attendance Thursday and spoke about the relationship between the Lakers and Hollywood.

The trailer he put together was entitled "Third Act." The first act was about Anthony's early career, the second part touched on his struggles in Denver and New York, and the third act was about a Lakers future, interspersed with images of Los Angeles and Lakers legends such as George Mikan and Elgin Baylor.

Sure, Brad Richards did reject Los Angeles, but that rejection did lead the team into signing Simon Gagné, which then led the Kings into trading for Mike Richards and finally landing Jeff Carter. :naughty::D:laugh::nod::)

Let Melo stay in New York; dude's a bigger ballhog than Kobe is and worse, back when Carmelo was in Denver, the Lakers eliminated the Nuggets on his birthday in 2009. Never mind the fact he doesn't even play defense. :shakehead

Gonna be real awkward when he inevitably signs elsewhere.

Rest assured, it won't be.

Meanwhile, Chris Kaman just got a two-year 9.8 million dollar contract with the Jail Blazers.

How in the world is Chris Bosh in a position to demand the maximum??? :help:

Bosh is nothing more than a better than average F/C imo.

Put him on a team where he gets more touches, his numbers go way up, lets not for get he was a regular 20-10 guy in Toronto. Still not a max player, but I can see where it's coming from, and he'll get it should he leave Miami.

He's not. But NBA owners have less discipline then even NHL owners, and we all saw what happened earlier this week.

Therefore, several teams have already promised Boshtritch the max.

It's ridiculous. Wish I had money like that just to throw away. I will laugh my ass off if ends up on the Lakers.

It's a pretty sad state of affairs when the Lakers have plummeted so low as to chase this guy. The Lakers are like the Flames two seasons ago; refuse to completely tear it down and start over. I've given up on their management because it's incompetent. LBJ would be a moron picking the Lakers over the Clippers (but he's probably headed back to Miami anyway).

I hope none of these guys choose the Lakers and maybe they can see the light and tear it down and start over. They drafted a nice piece in Randle; time to look for the future, leave the past behind (that also means not signing Pau as well).

I don't get it either, Ron, but that would be assuming we got someone that knows what they're doing at the helm over there. Gonna be some rough years as a Lakers fan and not in the "we're gonna suck for a while, but it's for the better" way. It will be the "we're gonna suck and it won't get better" way.

ESPN just reported the Lakers are actually serious about landing Carmelo Anthony, to the point this is their projected Starting 5:

Kobe Bryant
Pau Gasol
Julius Randle
Carmelo Anthony
Robert Sacre/Steve Nash

Awesome!

Randall and Sacre can split wheel chair duties.

Would be awesome to see two of the most selfish players in sports try and co-exist over an 82 game season.

Should have a reality show if this were to happen.
