We know Dubas is the most coveted GM in the league and can walk into any job he wants after this season.

If Keefe is let go, how long will he find himself out of work?

Holl > liljegren

No, answer for this question
No faith it the coach
Has had one of the best teams in the league his entire nhl career with no playoff success

I
Dubas probably dictates a lot of what Keefe actually does as a coach.

Therefore my answer is a resounding no.
I was thinking the same. I believe Dubas is calling a lot of the shots from his private box. I don’t think Keefe is a bad coach, I mean he can only work with what he has. Sadly enough, Toronto is just a far sub-par team to Tampa Bay. It is like comparing a **** box car to a Lamborghini. They just don’t have the horsepower.

Keefe is not the blame. The underperforming spoiled players are. Matthews should be more concerned with his play on the ice then what outfit he is wearing to the game.

At the end of the day, the players need to show up on time. They were comically bad to start that game.
100%
I don't get the narrative that the coach has to get players ready for puck drop, they're professional athletes for god's sake.

I'm talking more about his lineup decisions and in game management.

Keefe hasn't worked out.

It's the players, but its not easy to change the players.

(1) sign or trade Matthews this summer. No walking.
(2) if he signs, give him the C.
(3) If the Leafs don't get out of the first round, pink slip Shanahan.
(4) Leafs need a coaching change, Keefe has to go. Dubas should follow.

Keefe is worse as an NHL coach than he was as an NHL player. At least as a player you can be buried on the 4th line and not ruin the entire game.

Keefe has coached 4 game 1's at home he's 1-3. 3 Game 7's(game 5*) at home he's 0-3. Absolute garbage coach carried through the regular season by his lineup, and spazzes out every playoffs.

I'm firmly of the belief that starting the games asleep at the wheel isn't on the coaches anymore.

They did it a thousand times under Babcock and now they're doing it a thousand times under Keefe. This team just seems to come and go as they please - whoever the coach is.

There is obviously blame to be placed on the players however the constant line juggling, not allowing the players to jell together through habits, repetition and playing styles is a huge issue. From the trade deadline on Keefe has had 0 consistancy then he starts game 1 with a line of Acciari-Jarn-Kerfoot who almost have 0 time together and puts out Bunting with top line after Jarn had been jelling there and puts together Nyl-ROR-Tav who under any metric have been objectively terrible together... Throw in his treatment of Lilegren, his total blindspot wrt to Holl and you have a coach who can't make up his mind and doesn't instill confidence in his young players (who very much need it) or his vets for that matter. I have yet to see a legitimate case for Keefe being anything but a below avg. coach.

No coach could have fixed problem of last night .. if Tampa plays at that speed and intensity we are done even if Scotty was behind da bench .. they were all over da puck and there was no room for our guys to make any possession occur .. but I highly doubt Tampa can play at that pace

Keefe has a major conflict of interest with being a good coach. They do not get along well.

I've seen complaints he doesn't line match and that he tries to line match too much, therefore, yes, I think he is a terrible coach due to line matching or not line matching.

Put some blame on the players.

I like Keefe but they say a team takes on the personality of their coach.

Well this team is scared shitless so if they lose this series he’s gone and never to be seen again.

Call me complicated, but you can blame the players and the coaches, you don’t have to choose. Keefe’s team played like Keefe coached to start the game, over thinking it, nervy and playing scared. He didn’t line match all year, put out your horses, you’re afraid of that line? Come on.

I'm convinced Keefe is the reason the refs hate us. Just like how they turned sour on Bunting for a stretch and refused to give him the benefit of the doubt, the refs look at Keefe's face and say F it, penalty time.

Keefe just gives off massive clown vibes, especially when he goes on F bomb tirades but thinks he's instilling motivation.

I'm sure everyone deep down realizes that but the alternative to blaming the coach/gm for everything is to hold the players, including the "stars", accountable. Some just can't bring themselves to do that.
