If you're manipulating the numbers to make the Leafs .656pts% seem like a playoffs bubble record, you're only misleading yourself.

And the Leafs have hardly played anywhere near "peak". Heck, they're 25th in offense this year (though the underlying offensive numbers are still elite).

At the end of the day this team is different from other teams.
Everyone knows that the Leafs (success or failure) are core 4 and half the cap on 4 forwards. From we can and we will to I bet my job on the core, that’s who we are. Some agree, many opposed. Continued failure won’t be Hyman, Kadri, etc.

Will Dubas end up getting fired because of regular season or Mitch Marner getting assists? What did he bet his job on? The ability for Matthews to score 40 regular season goals?

I trust Dubas but I do not trust the fickle nature of hockey in general.

Let's be honest, there is no one way or the right way to win playoff games. It's very random and has a lot of luck involved. So far, they've had zero luck.

Dallas went to the Cup finals and are back to garbage again. St. Louis won the Cup, was garbage and is suddenly okay again. There is no recipe for success besides just having good players on your team and hoping it all clicks together at the right time.

It will be a shame but he'll get fired after this season if the team doesn't have success and then he could be on his next team and follow the process exactly like he did here and win the Cup. Hockey is a *itch.

No matter what other moves happen if the big guns catch a heater like they’ve been on recently come April they’re as good a shot as anyone to make a cup run.
That’s really all you can do as a manager. Build a team that has the pieces to make a run, how they execute on the ice falls mostly on the players, and to a degree on coaching.

This guy really woke up during a 8-2 run and said he's upset and wants to vent.
 
Do I believe Dubas has what it takes to win a championship? No I don't. Look I think Dubas is a stellar dude, and he's fiercely loyal to his team, unfortunately there is a LOT more to that to being a successful GM IMO, Dubas is too inexeprienced.

i got most fans don't enjoy getting knocked out in the first rd every year

i also got some fans believe the GM and the team are the same entity and believe they are duty bound to support the GM until he's fired , then they'll do a 180 like they did on Babs/Burke and shit on them endlessly

I like this point you have brought up. As I have said a few times in this thread I don’t trust Dubas. If this season goes bad I’m willing to give him another year if he breaks up the core 4.

I don’t trust Dubas because I don’t think the strategy of all this money tied into 4 forwards and now 5 players will lead to playoff success.

He’s done good so far in drafting and some of the trades.

At least they run guys out of town who have us playing like trash. You boomers run people out of town who give you a contender. Oh poor meeeeeeee Matthews is my no.1 C however will I survive.

If this year goes bad and/or they get bounced in the 1st round... I would say with almost certainly Dubas is shown the door, Shahan too, Keefe would be 50/50 depending on which GM they bring in. Big changes are coming if this team doesnt smarten up.

as i already said , the supporters don't run anyone out of town , they just turn on them after there fired , Burkes following dwarfed Dubies

and Loe was GM when we drafted Mathews

I'd like to see a show of hands of who hates Burke seeing half the team was his up to 2019.

Knowing when somebody should leave does not equal hate.

Strange post. It's as if you think Dubas somehow is responsible for Matthews being a Leaf when the truth is, he was handed a team with not just Matthews, but a bunch of other young talent as well. It was an enviable position to be in and no matter who took over at that point, I think we would all have said that there is simply no way that we would not have won even one playoff series by now. Or are you giving him tons of credit for not trading Matthews by now, is that it?
