I love the world cup. Waking up in the middle of the night to gamble on it has been fun. France and England to advance parlay this round.
Certainly makes waking up at 5:30am with a toddler more bearable. He’s playing and doing his thing and I’m lying here slightly hungover watching England and Colombia beat the piss out of each other.

Newcastle showing how you run up the score, right to the last minute.

Arsenal came out in the 2nd half today up 2-0 and were content to hold the ball at midfield indefinitely. It wasn't until Forest scored on a quick counterattack after a shoddy Arsenal corner that the Gunners woke up and started applying pressure again.

The close race last year should've taught Arteta and Co. that the league can come down to very slim margins, and that might include goal differential. Never sit on a 2-0 lead. Keep scoring.

This isn’t particular to this situation only but IMO you shouldn’t be allowed to negotiate personal terms with a player before a transfer is agreed between clubs, or at least given permission by your current club to do that. And maybe that occurred and it wasn’t mentioned.

Definitely weird mechanics of the transfer market. Seems like it would be considered tampering in NA, but more the norm in soccer.

Pretty sure NHL teams are also often allowing players to talk to other teams before a trade? Like the sign-and-trade what happened with Hampus Lindholm.

I don't think soccer teams are allowed to do that either without permission.

As for Caicedo... seems like he didn't want to be the 2nd choice for Liverpool.

Pure guts by England. To beat red hot Australia, in front of their home crowd, with England missing their top player in James...unbelievable. And they did it in fairly convincing fashion too.
Legendary performance by the Lionesses.
