probably a good move getting out of Ramsdale's shadow if he's able to get more starts at Forest

That's hilarious but as we all know most critics of soccer (and hockey, tbh) just have issues with 0-0 games and ties more than anything else. 0-0 means both teams suck in their minds and they don't want to waste their precious, precious time watching two sucky teams who can't score or decide who's got the bigger set of truck nuts.

Not a soccer person but sure I'll watch and support the national teams.

Though sure I acknowledge its global popularity however my personal opinion that a sport primarily limited to the feet and the head seems ridiculous to me. The true scope of human progress can easily be measured in the use of hands from art, writing, science. life saving surgical advances.... Even just the human touch of comfort... So a game creation that is limited to something simply to the feet that are designed to run from predators or to prey (not even counting imperiling the head with the impacts from headers) is hard for me to compute. I admit a bias of my age in my youth sports it was all baseball/football/basketball. Soccer just came in for my brothers age who is four years younger.

So in summation the sport is not for me. I do respect the fans since we are all humans and will have differences of opinions and we live in a largess monetary period here sport entertainers can earn generational wealth while playing a playground game. Lets enjoy the calm before the AI apocalypse.

Everyone in the media that slagged Lloyd for calling out the team's arrogance and shitty attitude owes her an apology.

If it wasn't obvious enough from the way they played and carried themselves then hearing confirmation from competitors that they were getting ahead of themselves and running their mouths about it should remove all doubt.

After one of the group stage matches Alex Morgan did an interview where she downplayed the US's issues with performance and pivoted to how much better the competition is now. This seemed like excuse-making, or possibly an indication that they were really struggling just to compete, regardless of whether the opposition was actually any better than in previous years. There have been a lot of good INTL women's teams in past WCs and other championships. I'm not sure the excuse holds any weight other than by comparing them to the currently declining US team.

For Adams or Chelski?
For Adams. I think there’s a low likelihood he sees meaningful playing time, especially with Chelsea still bidding for Lavia and Ceicedo whose prices are going to be 2-4x what Chelsea paid for Adams. He’s going to be go from being a guaranteed starter to likely a bench player. He’s also starting behind the 8-ball since he’s still not recovered from his injury yet and will miss the start of the season. At 24 he needs to be playing consistently, not coming off the bench.

For Chelsea it’s good business. $20M for a player like Adams is good value and they’ll be fine stashing him in the squad at that price.

We also just went through this mess with Pulisic and saw how quickly things turned against him. Being an American at a big club comes with increased scrutiny and Pulisic took a lot of blame he didn’t deserve for Chelsea’s struggles. Not really stoked about seeing Adams go through the same thing.

I hear you but Adams showed without a doubt last season that he is a decent to good Premier League level defensive midfielder last season and IMO he needs to keep testing himself at that level. Going down to the championship for a year is not going to improve him.

Chelski has MAYBE 3 midfielders total on that team now, without him, and none of them play Adams’ role so adding him absolutely fills a need. I don’t see them being able to add 2 more midfielders plus bring in a forward to replace Nkunku, as they are looking to do.

I bet Lavia ends up at Liverpool also. Their midfield needs almost as much help as Chelski’s does. And it doesn’t look like Brighton is going to budge on Caicedo’s price, and for some reason the Blues decided to make it even easier for them to stick to their guns by paying a reasonable amount for Sanchez. They already had a financial fair play slap on the wrist recently so they can’t just continue to spend huge amounts of money moving forward. But I guess we’ll see.

And I don’t think Pulisic being an American brought the increased pressure, I think it was was his transfer fee and wages, just like anyone else.

All good points. I didn’t want him to stay at Leeds but I would have preferred he go to a team like mid-table team like Fulham or Aston Villa where they shouldn’t be fighting a relegation battle and can compete for Europe but also could offer him more minutes. Though I suppose it’s true that Chelsea is a mid-table team now too :naughty:

I also just generally don’t love the environment at Chelsea at the moment. They have had no direction in terms of manager selection or roster building and they’re not a patient club. Boehly has yet to prove he can be the steward of a Champions League level club. There are reports that Boehly wants to bring in Neymar and Poch said no. He kinda gives me Dan Snyder vibes but is less villainous.

Hard for me to see this as anything other than Pulisic pt2, potentially. I do think there's an American superstar stigma for CP that may not be there for Adams, though. Agree would've preferred a "rising 2nd tier" team.

Sky Sports reporting that Tyler Adams to Chelsea has fallen through. Back to Leeds he goes but other teams are interested in triggering his release clause. This is exactly why I wasn’t happy with Chelsea being the move. Not the most professional outfit.

Harry Kane to Bayern. Finally we can stop hearing about his future.

City vs Burnley just kicked off. We did it, the Premier League is back. Well done.

Aaaaaaaand City scores in the third minute. Haaland, of course.
