Also all last year your herd one of the reasons why we shouldnt "tank" is how much the playoff experience will help Horvat. Something some of us said is overrated. Hows that looking now?

How would you rank a #2 shutdown defender?

Easily top 15.

I'm leaning towards agreeing with you. He's developed in to a solid #2.

If we got a d-man at the 10th pick this year do you have confidence WE could develop him in to a #2?

As bad as we've been at drafting we've also been terrible at developing players.

Hilariously enough, we're still in the playoffs.

It wouldn't be unrealistic to suck our way into 3rd.

At least try to take advantage of the weak division and therefore **** drafting spot you'll get.

This is exactly what I hope Benning is not thinking, but he probably is.

Big stick wavers are overrated. All the fancy stats and numbers have given solid, empirical evidence that stick wavers are overrated. Hamonic isn't what this team needs, and not at the cost of our 1st+ good roster player.

Why do you think Benning wanted Bartkowski so badly? And why do you think WillieD plays him so much? He's not the greatest at it, but that's the kind of defenseman we need. The last thing we need is to give up Edler and a 1st round pick to have a big stick waver that hits and fights, for crying out loud.

Ducks will easily pass us and bump us out of a plyoff spot, we're only 20 games into the season lol

At least we'll be out of a playoff spot by american thanksgiving, meaning we won't have to suffer the glorious distinction again of being the one team that is in a spot on thanksgiving who doesn't end up making the playoffs.

I think there is a difference between purposely putting a bad roster to tank and accidentally putting a bad roster together that ends up tanking.

Hire Boucher (Or pay the 2nd and try to get Stevens from LA) as long as we don't have to pay compensation to anyone.
Send JV down to the WHL
Bench Bart
Trade/waive Svenny B
Platoon Miller and Markstrom - Trade Miller if possible
Get a goalie from Calgary cheap

you're just forcing ****. no reason to. just let it play out. Can make some decisions on a couple young players at christmas.

No reason to trade for any goalie. Bartkowski is only here for the year and no reason to dump baertschi so soon.

How are people still advocating waiving Sven ? He has some really good games, yet still gets under 10 minutes of ice time
Waive WD, before Sven

Hamonic and Tanev are almost identical players, what is this about?

Stand in front of the net and wave your stick around style defending is dying. In 10-15 years, every single defenseman in the NHL will have very good skating and transition. The trend has already begun, let's not be dinosaurs and go in the opposite direction.

"If you can't move the puck well, you're not a defensive defenseman. You're a bad defenseman"

We need defensemen who only can skate and do nothing else? Matt bartkowski is one of the worst d men in the league

We lost to a better team. shrugs

Same would apply to every Oilers loss since 2010. Because every team they faced has been better than them. We are learning that most teams are better than us too. For some people there is a grieving process as reality sets in.

Gotta love how Willie gets all the rookies a minus at the end of the game with the empty net while it was already out of reach.

I don't think playoff experience is over rated. But you have to somewhat ready for that experience to turn into some meaningful results the next season or so.

We're no where near that stage yet.

Got to learn how to play in the regular season before the playoffs even remotely matter.

Which is why our plan moving foward should been the former. Were sucking all while not selling high on our vets. This franchise is a joke.

Any trade involving Hamonic and the Canucks should be a three way deal where the Isles get Hamhuis, Team X gets Hamonic and we get a first rounder, with additional pieces to make up for the discrepancies.
