Still doesn't make sense. We aren't contending in the next 3-4 years. And they would want Tanev plus McCann. No thanks

Fans making those posts are delusional. They aren't going to get a Tanev+ package from anyone. If it's Edler or Hamhuis + 1st, we make that trade easily. Hamonic makes perfect sense for this roster. We are bleeding goals, which happens to be something Hamonic is good at preventing.

Then don't dump on Willie. He's leading us to the promise land.

Poor Willie might not make to Christmas tho.

Call up Green and send down Willie.... does he have to clear waivers?

You might be on to something here....never thought of it that way, but having an incompetent coach might actually help us in the long run.....rather than deliberate tanking, we're tanking without malice aforethought....and at the end of the year we get a high draft pick and a new coach.

Well it's only November and nowhere to go but up, that's our longest road trip of the year.

Line management has been putrid, defense has been trash and goaltending has been giving up that backbreaking goal in the third.

What a mess, fix this.

Don't worry , they still have two 6 game road trips left

No we wouldn't we have a potential top 5 pick. You'd have to been insane to trade it

I don't think we are bad enough to get a top 3 pick. Top 10 is realistic. That's not what's worrying me.
I want us to dump some assets for another 1st or 2 2nds. We need a really good draft.

Why would we give up our first this year.

Because contrary to this board's tank mentality, we're not going to finish anywhere near Matthews territory. Hamonic is a better player than we'll likely draft with that pick. We need actual young NHL caliber talent, not a bunch of kids. Look at how much Horvat's struggling to see why.

That said, we'd likely lottery protect our 1st.

We have a lot of injuries. The transition to youth was never going to be easy. If we miss the playoffs, its for the better anyways. It would be a miracle for this team to get past the first round.

Or he could end up like Dougie Hamilton on the Flames :sarcasm:

So its 2-1 going into the 3rd. Time for a big goal and to out shot the opponent right?

Wrong, Canucks get outshot 17-6.

To me, that shows you the type of character this team has right now. Willie has clearly lost the team. Guy is beyond incompetent.

He's also nearly a decade older than who they'd draft with that pick. When you're a team that looks 5+ years away from being a serious contender that's a pretty big issue.

@BradZiemer: The #Canucks have 7 wins in first 20 games. Last time they had fewer wins was way back in 1997-98 when they were 4-13-3 thru first 20

No we do not. It took a colossal failure of a roadtrip to drop us to 9th in the west and 16th overall. We will play better, and that will keep us in the middle of the pack. The Pacific division dreadful this season. It's practically a guarantee we'll be a playoff team based on that alone.
