I've been itching to express this thought. It seems the more he pulls his benchings in the third period, his overplaying the vets in the third, relying on guys like Bart over a Tanev for ice time, his refusal to put the best possible PP out there, ignoring the Sedins request for the RHs, using guys like Dorsett late when the team needs a goal or is defending to hold on, his daily shifting of his lines even when he isn't dealing with injuries, and his moronic 3on3 matchups it could be possible that he is losing the confidence of a core group who can't understand it either. The kids sitting every third like they are dog meat can't be keeping a high confidence level with the consistent total lack of faith shown in them. Can't believe the Sedins are on board with what's happening. They are very astute students of the game and this must be causing their hockey minds to grind all kinds of sparks and metal shavings. Remember they supported Torts too like the veteran pros they are, but they weren't in favor of his tactics

If it ain't broke don't fix it. If it is broke and you don't fix it, how do you explain it.

Yeah, he just might be losing this group more and more game by game. It's a more subtle fade than the Torts letdown, but it's like a slow burning fuse. Each guy is second guessing a little bit more here and there with each debacle. Like standing on thin ice in the morning with sun shining and above freezing temps forecast for the afternoon. You know you are going to fall through, but it's just going to take so ******* long and you won't know when until it happens.
You're always right. Keep posting.

Better yet, we need you to be a sportsnet analyst cause almost everyone there is awful.

I'd rather go back in time and witness losing in Game 7's 2011 Cup Final sober than watch Derek Dorsett play with the Sedins (or anytime/anywhere meaningful) again.

Nobody saying to do that. Hell even with trading the veterans rookies being on the team wouldnt be a for sure thing. Instead of bringing up Edmonton why dont you bring up a team like Buffalo? Looks like they've done a pretty awesome job of having a few down years while stocking up on picks and prospects while developing the young guys properly. They kept rienhart in the minors one extra year becaue it was the best thing for his development while having Eichel making the team right off the bat. Each prospect needs to be developed a certain way. Thats the model we should be following.

Buffalo traded their defenseman (Myers) for another one (Bogosian) in a package that also saw a 1st going back. They basically did exactly what I'm suggesting we do to acquire Hamonic. So, yes! Let's be like Buffalo. :P

Sorry dude.

Hey, Willie's a great AHL coach. Reunite him with Vey and all is right in the world again. ;)

Not buying the snake oil you are selling. We heard it about how great Vey was going to be. NOT. I've seen Willie's game for the second year now. That style won't cut it here either and the only vets he has to rely on will be his boy and Biega, but the new coach, Green, has a better eye for talent and Biega will be a Canuck.

tbf, vey should have been better than he is

the fact he's struggling to be a point a game player at the ahl level is shocking when you consider he's just played a season at the NHL level, and had success in the AHL previously

Stop!!!!!!!! Stop!!!!!!! Stop!!!!!!! Stop!!!!!!!!!!! Stop!!!!!!! Stop!!!!!!!! Stop!!!!!!!

THE big club gets to pull up players and decimate a team. That's their right.

They don't have the right to saddle them with one of the dumbest coaches I have ever encountered in over 55 years of following this game. If you want to fire him. By all means fire him.

Let the Comets coach themselves by committee or let Biega act as player coach. He's better than three guys the Canucks have on the roster and Willie and JB don't want him because he's not BIG enough or TOUGH enough, yet he hits more than anyone the Canucks have. Now Sbisa goes down again and Biegs will be brought up to eat popcorn once again.

Just tonight another simple example of coaching prowess with Baertschi and Grenier getting more shots than every member of the team but one and they get a combined total of 4 shifts in the third period. He wouldn't understand a good thing if it bit him in the ***, but boy his same old, same olds are.

That's Coach Willie Style!

The first 10 minutes of G7 was all heart.

This group is rotten from Linden all the way down to Willie.

I'll hang in with Benning as long as he protects our draft choices and trades away UFA vets for futures.

But if he trades away our first for temporary help or keeps the Hamhuises and Vrbatas past the trade deadline then there should be a hell to pay and open boycott of the team.

Most sane and reasonably intelligent people have been saying rebuild for the last couple of years and it is so clearly needed.

We'll see if Benning has the gonads to do the right thing. If he does he will find the true fans behind him.

Keeping WD around as the caretaker for a rebuilding team isn't the worst move. Changing coaches will change nothing.
I'm with ya.

Of the things that matter,

Virtanen should go to the World Juniors and then back to Calgary. Just not doing enough and there is no reason to loose a year to FA. Gaunce will do at least as well.

McCann should stay. Consistently produces chances and the all round game is decent.

1-4-2 is just a horrible result on this road trip. 4 out of a possible 14 points

It'll come back to bite us later for sure. Some very winnable games on this trip and we couldn't capitalize. Now we have to face playoff teams like Chicago and Dallas...... :help:

Do you believe Benning spent to the cap because he legitimately thought he assembled a better team? Because I honestly think he thinks this is a playoff team.

The team quit in 2014 and if that same core pulls that gutless crap again the should all be shipped.

Or he was being propped up by linemates like Toffoli, Pearson, maybe Weal(?), on a very strong Kings farm team. 10 points in 13 games right now, if that projects through the season the difference between then and now is probably in the quality of offensive players to play with.

Brutal road trip. Easiest 7-game trip ever and win 1 game. This was a trip we needed to go 5-2 on if we had playoff aspirations given how tough the upcoming schedule is.

Weren't awful tonight but this is the sort of game a bad team loses when they seemingly play well. Poor coaching and thin defence caught up with us on this trip.

- Sedins-Hansen were very good, easily our best line. Unlucky to only score once. Carrying the team right now.

- Horvat couldn't get a bounce tonight but was much more dangerous offensively and around the puck a lot in the offensive zone. Still struggling with tough defensive responsibilities. Needs Sutter back and taking hard minutes.

- Virtanen has fallen off a cliff since the fight in NJ. Physical game has completely disappeared, contributing nothing. WJC camp can't come soon enough.

- good first impression for Grenier. Skated well and was noticeable. Unlucky he didn't score on his great chance.

- McCann on the point on the PP is idiotic. Didn't have his best game tonight, several poor turnovers.

- Higgins has fallen off, probably showing conditioning issues after playing so many games in a short stretch after missing a month.

- Barrtschi looked good in limited minutes. Inexplicable that he gets no PP time. Cracknell had lots of jump and Dorsett not bad.

- top pairing has fallen off a bit on this trip after being so good in October. Tanev hasn't looked quite right since his injury and Edler is allowing his lazy play from 13-14 to creep back into his game. Needs to be better.

- Bartkowski was overplayed and had a rough game. Is a #6 and no more. Hamhuis wasn't bad although he had 2 ugly shifts.

- Hutton looked better tonight than in recent games. Showed more jump and played very well.

- Sbisa was good in his 5 or so shifts. Penalty was total BS.

- Miller wasn't awful but that 1-0 goal was a bit of a killer and left us playing catchup all night.

- Willie is just hopeless. Dorsett on the PP. Tanev on top unit over Hutton. McCann on the point. Bartkowski 23 minutes. And on and on. Loser coach getting loser results.
