- Horvat couldn't get a bounce tonight but was much more dangerous offensively and around the puck a lot in the offensive zone. Still struggling with tough defensive responsibilities. Needs Sutter back and taking hard minutes.

- Virtanen has fallen off a cliff since the fight in NJ. Physical game has completely disappeared, contributing nothing. WJC camp can't come soon enough.

- good first impression for Grenier. Skated well and was noticeable. Unlucky he didn't score on his great chance.

Horvat is definitely grappling with his new deployment. Fighting it. It's not going well for him, and is in desperate need of Sutter to come back... fast.

Agreed about Virtanen. He wasn't ready, and is entering scratch territory.

Grenier was a pleasant surprise. Do you think he can stick? This was probably just a showcase for the organization before Prust got healthy. Taking a look at both Shink and Grenier, seeing if they fit long-term. Glad Grenier was able to show well. Rooting for him.

- top pairing has fallen off a bit on this trip after being so good in October. Tanev hasn't looked quite right since his injury and Edler is allowing his lazy play from 13-14 to creep back into his game. Needs to be better.

- Willie is just hopeless. Dorsett on the PP. Tanev on top unit over Hutton. McCann on the point. Bartkowski 23 minutes. And on and on. Loser coach getting loser results.

Edler has been abysmal... Ugh.

Dorsett on the PP was an instant classic... What is WD thinking? Net front presence? Tanev on the top PP unit because of the right shot maybe? Bart is a legit top4? WD is ultra interesting to watch right now. So many curious decisions.

I'd say yes to scratching Virt, a couple games watching from above wouldn't hurt. He's 19 and isn't going to play 75+ games or whatever he's on pace for.

The PP is a wreck. Can't have a soft team with a lousy PP.

Would be a good idea to let Virtanen rest a few games but there's no healthy forward to replace him.

Could call up Gaunce again and shift Burrows back to RW. Don't want to call up Shinkaruk because of how he'll be (idiotically) deployed.

kris Russell stinks. How is this even a discussion??

You're right. It shouldn't be. But losing is going to bring out this kind of rashness (find your own word here b/c I don't want to get nailed by mods).

The vultures are going to be gathering around this team and now is the time for considered thought not some knee jerk reactions

Starting to get a little worried about some of the younger guys....Hutton looks to be wearing down and definitely has had his three toughest games in the last three....not sure if that's the result of playing with Bartkowski or not...and Virtanen/Horvat are really starting to struggle...McCann is holding his own but is taking a physical pounding, and Baertshi?...who knows...he doesn't play enough....if the mandate is bring these guys along, it ain't working with Willie.

I think Hutton looks rough because of Weber / Bartkowski. He and Sbisa look solid enough together.

Looking back at it the first goal was a hilarous combination of bull****.

- The Penalty that triggered the PP was a bogus call.
- Thorburn went after Sbisa and didn't get called.
- Hansen gets a breakaway and misses.
- The Canucks had so many attempts but couldn't clear.
- Puck takes a weird bounce right to Schiefele.
- And to top it all off, Miller should've had it.

These last few games have really taken the fun out of hockey for me.

The games haven't been entertaining, we're not winning, the decisions being made (by players and staff) are baffling...I must be missing something here. Nothing adds up here.

Some gold in the Provies tonight. I didn't notice we had 6 guys out there for almost a whole shift in the first. The Miller death stare is pretty funny too.

Brutal road trip. Easiest 7-game trip ever and win 1 game. This was a trip we needed to go 5-2 on if we had playoff aspirations given how tough the upcoming schedule is.

Weren't awful tonight but this is the sort of game a bad team loses when they seemingly play well. Poor coaching and thin defence caught up with us on this trip.

- Sedins-Hansen were very good, easily our best line. Unlucky to only score once. Carrying the team right now.

- McCann on the point on the PP is idiotic. Didn't have his best game tonight, several poor turnovers.

- Higgins has fallen off, probably showing conditioning issues after playing so many games in a short stretch after missing a month.

- Barrtschi looked good in limited minutes. Inexplicable that he gets no PP time. Cracknell had lots of jump and Dorsett not bad.

- top pairing has fallen off a bit on this trip after being so good in October. Tanev hasn't looked quite right since his injury and Edler is allowing his lazy play from 13-14 to creep back into his game. Needs to be better.

- Bartkowski was overplayed and had a rough game. Is a #6 and no more. Hamhuis wasn't bad although he had 2 ugly shifts.

- Hutton looked better tonight than in recent games. Showed more jump and played very well.

- Sbisa was good in his 5 or so shifts. Penalty was total BS.

- Miller wasn't awful but that 1-0 goal was a bit of a killer and left us playing catchup all night.

- Willie is just hopeless. Dorsett on the PP. Tanev on top unit over Hutton. McCann on the point. Bartkowski 23 minutes. And on and on. Loser coach getting loser results.
You wonder if that fight in NJ and disallowed goal decrease Virt's confidence.
As for the PP, to be fair McCann does play point in junior.

WHAT? too much canucks fan homerism.

Last year

Edler 31 points (first unit PP as well)
Tons of turnovers
Lead the NHL in worst +/- the year before

Russell 34 points
younger
Lead the NHL in blocked shots.

Time to take off the blue and green tinted glasses
