so will that make him a 4C?
13th F.
Don't go setting such lofty expectations
so will that make him a 4C?
He won't be by the time the draft rolls around.Kemell is ranked higher than Jiricek though
Savoie got 2 top 5 vote in the most recent flash poll by Bobby Mac and seemingly came in at 7.Who is this guy? I saw that he also said that no scouts he talked to had Savoie with a top 15 grade, meanwhile he's still getting top 5 votes from Bobby Mac's flash poll and was #4 I think in the mid year rankings?
Why is that? His season is done. Jiricek has the World Championships to win scouts over but I don’t think he’s necessarily gonna do amazing. His first game wasn’t anything to write home about other than his goal. We’ll see how he does against better teams but this tournament is the only way for him to pass others. He won't be by the time the draft rolls around.
Savoie got 1 top 5 vote in the most recent flash poll by Bobby Mac and seemingly came in at 7.
Went like this:
1. Wright (6/9 #1 votes)
2. Slafkovsky (2/9 #1)
3. Cooley (1/9 #1)
4. Nemec
5. Kemell
Jiricek (2 top 5 votes)
Savoie (1 top 5 vote)
Finnish winger Joakim Kemell, No. 3 on the mid-season rankings, checks in at No. 5 today.
Winnipeg Ice forward Matt Savoie, who was No. 4 on the mid-season rankings, did get a pair of top-five votes in the lottery edition poll but not enough to get by Nemec or Kemell. Czechia defender David Jiricek, No. 7 at mid-season, picked up three Top 5 votes this time. Jiricek was the closest to challenging Kemell for the No. 5 spot.
If you saw Jiricek's performance in the WC, I think you'd be as confident as I am that Jiricek finishes the year top 5. He's really something else. Apparently in the McKenzie poll is was really tight between Jiricek and Kemell, anyway.Kemell is ranked higher than Jiricek though and I wouldn’t be even slightly suprised if he dropped to 6. I wouldn’t be suprised if Nemec did either but I think it’s less likely.
What?! I watched the entire game. He started terribly. Had two bad plays leading to really good chances for the other team. And then another questionable pass that almost got his teammates head taken off a few shifts later. And then he barely played in the second. If you saw Jiricek's performance in the WC, I think you'd be as confident as I am that Jiricek finishes the year top 5. He's really something else. To be fair rankings are subjective and will vary from team to team.Kemell is ranked higher than Jiricek though and I wouldn’t be even slightly suprised if he dropped to 6. I wouldn’t be suprised if Nemec did either but I think it’s less likely.
Ya I’m not saying he won’t go top 5. He very possibly could. But there’s also a pretty good chance he doesn’t. He’s far from a top 5 lock.To be fair rankings are subjective and will vary from team to team.
I think as NJ fans we are too tuned into the failure element with Zacha and watching Patrick or Kakko. My guess is the differences will be of degree and stylistic but not fatal. This makes me feel 100 times better. If he is BPA at 2 plus fills a massive need then it should be a no brainer. Yes it could end up beig Jiricek is the better player but if you see Slaf as the BPA plus habe a massive need for him , you cannot torture yourself if in 5 years another olayer ends up better than who you took at #2.
NJ could use a 2C so Mercer can play wingWhy would you even consider drafting Cooley, when you already have Hughes and Hischier?
Yes. Whenever I hear power forward prospect I immediately think - good chance of busting. WhI have isnt fair as I haven’t watched other prospects before that were projected to be impactful power forwards.I think as NJ fans we are too tuned into the failure element with Zacha and watching Patrick or Kakko. Slaf is a skilled player. To my limited eyes he’s a big skilled guy more than a power forward. His stature and frame allow him to protect the puck and his reach helps as well but I don’t see a thumper in the traditional sense.Yes. I mean, it likely wouldn't happen but I'd consider it. You're locked into getting a supreme talent with one of Nazar or Savoie at 6 and then you have a shot at adding a power forward like Cutter Gauthier at 12 or someone like Danila Yurov.
When I hear a top power forward prospect with his skill set, I’m an optimist and pray he turns into a Rantanen or Mats Sundin lolYes. Yes I’m wantimg a Ranatanen but if we end up with a Killorn or Kassian….When I hear a top power forward prospect with his skill set, I’m an optimist and pray he turns into a Rantanen or Mats Sundin lol
He's a step above Kassian, and Killorn would still be a huge upgrade to the current Devils lineup. It's maybe not what you want at 2nd overall, but if that's what's on the board, you take it.Yes I’m wantimg a Ranatanen but if we end up with a Killorn or Kassian….
Yes but #1 D are worth their weight in gold. But also, Slaf’s set of skills make him very rare as well. He's a step above Kassian, and Killorn would still be a huge upgrade to the current Devils lineup. It's maybe not what you want at 2nd overall, but if that's what's on the board, you take it.
If you look at the league's elite wingers, they're taken at the top of the draft. If you look at the league's elite defensemen, they come from all over the draft. Take the forward, especially when you luck into a forward that's an incredible fit.
At least he scored so that's one positive that would help solidify the Habs choice in drafting him.Shane Wright's season has ended.
He had a PP goal tonight.
NJ probably doesn’t need another skilled defender though. They need one that can make basic puck plays and make a good pass out of the zone but they need one that can defend and PK and clear the crease who is a righty. Luke Hughes and Mukhamadullin and Smith and Dr Evil and Severson all have plenty of skill nut Siegs is the only guy that you want out there on the PK.Yes but #1 D are worth their weight in gold. Would Slaf be seen as good of a prospect as say Matthew Tkachuk was?
Yes I agree with you, we have skill in D and need another Seigs type . Im pro Slafkovsky. 2025 Conn Smythe winner Slafkovsky for the NJ Devils.NJ probably doesn’t need another skilled defender though.
