Prospect Info: Ivan Demidov (2024 5th OA): SKA St. Petersburg (KHL)

Was that Vanya who got crunched on the far boards with the goalie pulled?
I saw the play he ducked out but given the one camera angle it's sometimes hard to identify who it was particularly when the camera is panning away from the action.

6 points from Kaprizov’s U-22 record. About a dozen games to go.

Insane, the fact that Kaprizov have 21 years old when he put 51 pts in 57 games.

For sure, with more ice-time in the beginning, Demidov would break that easily in 53 games.

Not just stats looks incredible to me, his hard work, his two-way game, his compete, his shooting ability (because I knew last year that he is a unreal playmaker), but his shooting impressive me. I see in him a 35-45 goal scorer per year, like Kaprizov.

I wish the best for SKA for the playoffs. I want to give Rottenberg a break. Sometimes he makes it very hard. He just needs to play Demidov and SKA’s absolutely set at forward. Plug and play... Rottenberg needs to keep all his energy to fix SKA’s horrid defence and goaltending. Replace personnel. Hire the best consultants. SKA has cash. Just do something.

Bad games are a PPG and good games are the multiple point games that will help him reach the PPG pace for the full season.

Really hope Montreal acquires a 2C in the offseason to provide Demidov with some serious help.

Options would then abound for the Habs.

We could initially try Demidov with this center and Laine, to see if playing with Demidov will provide the opportunity for Laine to play up to his skill level for a longer stretch than 18 games?

Caufield - suzuki - Laine
Slafkovsky - XXX -- Demidov

is another option....

Caufiled - Suzuki - Dach
Slafkovsky - XXX - Demidov

is yet another...

Please keep him away from Slaf, we need another top six winger and centre in the worst way possible. Demidov is likely going to have to play with players that can’t help whatsoever for the first few years unfortunately.

If Demidov is the player we think he is, he’ll make the players around him better including Slafkovsky. When it comes to forwards, we haven’t had a lot players that could do that the past few decades.

Unpopular opinion but Mesar is fully capable of following Demidov's rhythm.

Its a shame we'll probably never get to see it.

Also i think Demidov is easely going to be the best offensive player from Day 1 so im nto sure why we would play him on the 2nd line rather than the first one?

It depends on Slaf. Will he be able to understand Demi's game and be fast enough on the ice to anticipate the plays Demi will be trying to do?

As a rookie, better to keep him away from biggest defensive responsibilities until he gets accustomed to the pace of the game.

Not saying Demidov won't be on 1st line, but needn't rush him there either. Also, spreading out the fire power will never hurt as Demidov could. being confidence to Slaf, Laine or someone else's game and bring them to a new level for their future play.

Who has the higher upside, Mesar or Demidov?
