What do you think Kane will end up getting dealt for?

Or also what would you be ok giving up for Kane. Those questions for really for everyone. Everyone saying his price is high what’s high?
I don’t think there’s a contender that benefits from adding him considering his contract even with 50% retained. Most teams are capped out and he’s bad.

These are all things that will just drive down his price so I keep hearing his price will be high but from everything said on here it doesn’t seem that is the case

I wonder how much of his "decline" based off his underlying numbers is related to health and the overall suck that is surrounding him. It's gotta be hard trying to "get up" for every game when you know it's essentially for nothing.
Sure, but if Kane wants to go somewhere better I don't think half assing it with Chicago does him any good. The most likely explanation is the obvious one and that is he's 34 years old, declining like many players do at that age, and is playing injured. None of which makes me want to spend anything of value for him.

last year he would’ve had the 5th most points in the history of the new jersey devils. that’s not really bad. that’s really needed.

he’s not my first choice. but he’s not a disaster.

What he did last year is immaterial given that we aren't trading for him last year (which was ZBC's point, btw)

What he's doing this year is playing really bad. And he's hurt.

That’s the thing. The cost will be high . I just think there are better options amd directions to go than Kane if we don’t get Meier.
Id rather add a player or two like Jeannot , Barbashev , for the bottom 6 than pay a ton for Kane
If he doesn’t move ten minutes before the deadline what can they really als for at that point?

There is something to this, but at the same time, if you're questioning his makeup to play hard for that team, I also have to wonder what it means that he hasn't even decided if he wants to leave that situation. I mean, he's dragging his heels on whether or not he even wants to be trading, and that is a bit of a flag for me even if I wanted to acquire him.
It's not like he can make the trade himself though, his comments on the Rangers thing is pretty signifying to me that he wants out. Regardless I don't think he's a piece we need, I just don't think he's trash.

Kane wanting to go to NY gives me: "I wanna get a playoff run in and set up a retirement contract in a city that would be fun" vibes. I'm not interested in him and I don't think he'd find NJ rejuvenating.

I think he's going home in UFA, but I can see him wanting to come here on a playoff run. But I wouldn't want it anyway, he had no reason to slack off in Chicago and he's looked awful.

Don't want Kane at all - but I'd take him if we strike out on other options and if he came cheap.

How would a salary cap NJ team look like with a signed T. Meier and bratt?

Do we have enough cap to fill the bottom of the lineup?

A lot a lot of room.

Especially if both Severson and Graves move on with L. Hughes and Nemec taking their spots.

Meier + Bratt extended with Hughes + Nemec around on the ELC's would basically 21-22M which would help with guys like Severson, Tatar, Graves, Wood, Blackwood and Haula coming off. The latter would cost around like 20M if I did the math right, lol.

I did this exercise to see how the team looks in the worst case scenario next year post Meier trade:

Very annoying but not fatal and the team would be better I think even if this were to happen.

Except the reporting has largely been that he hasn't told the blackhawks if and where he will go ? I can read the comments as him being upset that they wouldn't wait for him.
I'm unfamiliar with the specifics but he has a significant NTC I'm assuming? Regardless my entire point is I don't think he's "terrible" just yet, that's all.

The Sharks lose all their leverage once we make it to the summer because Timo can just take the QO or threaten to. He'd also net less in trade. If they're determined to deal Meier, it absolutely should happen before the deadline.

Could Meier accept the QO / short circuit the trade process? Yes. But, why would he? He’d end up with a one year $10 million contract. If he has a down season or is injured, he probably makes less on his next contract. Plus, he’d have to play on a rebuilding Sharks team that will likely lose a lot again next year. As we’re seeing with Kane, it’s hard to move a big contract, even with just one year left.

This is a very similar situation to Tkachuk. Obviously Calgary wasn’t shopping him at the deadline last year, but if they did, I don’t think he was bringing back more than Weegar and Huberdeau. And Tkachuk didn’t blow things up in the off-season by taking the QO.

The notion that the deal has to happen at the deadline is wishful thinking by the fans. It’ll happen when Grier is ready to pull the trigger.

Kane is really bad this year. Worse than last year.

He's also been hurt for most of the year (his fault for not getting the surgery), playing on a Bedard contender (also his fault) but we saw Tarasenko's impacts dip and score in his first night as a Rag. I'm not a Kane fan but something tells me that whatever team is getting him is going to get a Kane that's ready to light the world on fire come playoffs. He's been one of the most clutch forwards of the last decade, plus he also has a chance to "cash in" a final time in his career in UFA even though I think he'll take a payout to become a Sabre but more money on a future contract via playing well doesn't hurt, lol.

But that's the thing... He hasn't even decided if he wants to be traded yet. That's kind of a red flag for me. He really doesn't seem all that motivated
