Where would Raty slot in with regards to the devils farm system? #4? #5? #6? I think you could make case probably that Nemec / Luke / Holtz are far above him and then Casey and Mookie are above him even still, but it's probably that range.

2023 1st unprotected(!), Holtz, Sharangovich, Okhotyuk for Meier signed to 7 years at 9 million!

Its a lot to give and a lot to pay but hed be a great fit and Id love to get him!

I don’t think it’s necessarily that. It’s more so the fact that it seems more likely than not, that Meier is getting traded with an extension in place…thus he has a lot of say where he’s going.

There are currently a lot of reasons why a player would want to join the Devils and hop onboard in the infancy of their contending status and get PAID at the same time. The fact that he may be close with a few Devils players is just another cherry on top.

Rags would be nuts to trade Chytil. Rangers have zero center Depth

Hard to see NYR trading Chytl. He's quietly become their only good young forward.

The even weirder thing was that Joe Thornton already looked like he was about 45 years old then, yet isn't even 45 now and still played in the NHL as of last season.

If it's between the Devils and Rangers, the Rangers are going to win that most times... sorry that's just the truth.

But in this situation I feel like the Devils actually have an advantage given who he'd play with (Hischier/Hughes) and he has actual friends and countrymen on the team... and if there's any allure by NYC, he can still live right next to it anyway.

This ain’t your daddy’s devils anymore…we’re actually attractive to people now. Players are a couple minute path ride into the city and get to enjoy relative anonymity in NJ. And Eff the rangers always and forever!

I don’t know if it was brought up 2 days ago when it was released but NRD podcast says they believe Buffalo is more or less just checking in on Meier than anything super serious..which is in line with what some Buffalo reporter stated too. They said they Devils are absolutely very seriously in on Meier. They’ve also asked around about Horvat (again, this came out two days ago), Boeser, and other Vancouver players. They even also mentioned Patrick Kane too. They went on to say they wouldn’t be surprised if the Devils don’t get a done for a forward they really like, they could see Fitz pivoting to the backend to stabilize a little more and mentioned a guy like Ekholm.

That, and I wonder sometimes what the difference is really like. I mean, I get it, playing in the middle of Manhattan is its own thing, and the location of MSG means it'll always have sellouts and whatnot through corporate seats alone, but in the big picture it's not like the local media really talks about the Rangers all that much, anyway. Listen to local sports radio and they're all like "Oh, it's February, nothing going on in sports until March Madness and baseball season", just a lot of ignoring or sheer ignorance of hockey, whether it's the Rags, Isles, or us.

The size of the Rags' "fanbase" is always played up, but they just don't seem to make that much of a ripple in the overall sports scene around here; this is a baseball/football/Knicks market.

It might be true, but even if it is, it might not mean anything. The Swiss guys want to vacation together, that seems like something that might happen even without the trade rumors.

Maybe while they're at the swim up bar, something about Meier's future comes up and Nico says "wouldn't it be nice?", but I doubt they went on vacation together for the express purpose of tampering with him. That would be some real long term shit.

I wish I could find video of the old cow tunnel so the new generation of NJ fans could experience it. The thing literally feeling like it could collapse over the highway with thundering chants after big wins. Feet stomping and banging on the sides in unison. Groups of guys mooing when it crawled to a standstill. Smell of the pretzels guys were hawking at the end of the tunnel.

its really amazing that such a structure was allowed i wasn't even 10 years old going across that and i still remember it so vividly. then when they built the new tunnel it was like how the hell didn't they do it like this the first time?

was that tunnel original when they built the arena/stadium?
