literally couldnt care less. Whatever gets the deal done. They can have all three as far as I am concerned.
Respect your opinion. The only other prospect besides Luke and Nemec that would be near untouchable to me is Casey. The kid is a special. Begrudgingly, I’d swallow the pill if there was no other way to consummate a deal.

Who would be considered the better prospect at this juncture….Casey or Raty?

I'll take all 3 on a pogo stick to San Jose cross country for Meier.

lol Yeah I can’t imagine it’d work like that but if they’d take all 3 and we somehow keep Holtz and Yegor then it’d be a miracle. That seems too good to be true (and likely is)

They’re not going to be interested in Casey

When I read this earlier I was assuming it meant something like 1st+Holtz+Yegor. Reading it now it seems like it could be something like 1st+Holtz or Holtz+Yegor. I have a hard time believing either 1st+Muk or 1st+Football gets it done. I mean if it does then idk either is perfectly fine with me

Edit: But then it says 3 pieces so idk. Why is it so poorly worded?!? If it’s possible to get this done without either Holtz and Yegor though that’d be f***ing insane
The article really is poorly worded. It’s hard for me to imagine a deal that doesn’t have a player comparable to Raty in upside (using the Vancouver trade as a comp). Holtz > Raty? I don’t know….

Holtz is definitely > Raty. Say what you will about his skating and IQ, but 51 pts in 52 AHL games is absolutely what you want and expect a No. 7 overall sniper to do.

I still think Timo's preference for an extension is the biggest factor here and have trouble seeing BUF > NJ unless they go to 10M x 8.

I don’t know much about their prospects, but the Athletic has their top 3 as all forwards (Eklund, Bordeleau & Bystedt). 2 of their top 10 (Merkley @4 and Havelid @6) are on D. I don’t see anyone not having interest in Seamus.

Interesting article on what San Jose is looking for in a Meier trade:

Hypothetical scenario- if you had to pick between a package that includes Foote + Bahl compared to one that contains Muk, what do you prefer? With a loaded prospect pool, I’d take quality over quantity right now and would sooner deal Foote + Bahl and hold onto Muk.

Hey now, have some sympathy for your fellow posters there fella, you want @FooteBahl to get whole new name after one trade.

Merkley (just traded) and Havelid were smallish D, similar profile to Casey. Not sure how old-school Grier is but I doubt he's thrilled with 5'9 D.

You're getting him for two runs. Similar to Debrincat I'm sure you'll have a team willing to take a shot at convincing him to stay over that time.

Fiala was basically a UFA. Anyone hoping he's going to demand coming here as some leverage is going to be disappointed.

What contenders are fitting him for 10 mil?

Definitely too good to be true. I assume our first is gone if we make a Meier trade, and I would be shocked if neither one of Shara and Holtz are included, if only because San Jose will need to fill the roster hole somehow.

Now that Horvat has gone to the Islanders, if Timo goes, which I don’t want, I truly hope he goes to this team. I’ve liked the Devils since the Sean Burke days. Jeff Friesen, a Shark draftee won a Cup here.

Most Devils fans, if not all, have wanted to give a Sharks a fair proposal for Meier since we want to see some of our guys who are blocked in spots here can go flourish elsewhere in the league. Holtz + Sharangovich are obviously the two that come to mind and it also helps you guys are in the West, lol. Personally, I want to see Grier do well and always had a soft spot for SJ since their own contention window.

Imma need my man to pull a Fiala

Nico and Siegs gonna annoy the man so much in Tulum that he's gonna ask for Carolina once he gets back to SJ. Hopefully we see more fireworks this week with the bye.

I saw a rumor about Meier's asking price..

2023 1st unprotected(!), Holtz, Sharangovich, Okhotyuk for Meier signed to 7 years at 9 million!

Its a lot to give and a lot to pay but hed be a great fit and Id love to get him!

The really good part here would be Meier giving up 8th year, which isn't going to be pretty given he's a power forward but that'd be a lot of young pieces to give up. If we retain Bratt on top of that, it makes us very top-heavy and forces us to fill the depth roles very cheaply, which would be harder without having this year 1st, Holtz and Sharangovich.

Let’s say it’s both of them at 9. You’d have Jack, Bratt, Nico, Meier, Palat, Dougie, Siegs, Marino at a combined ~56 mil for the next 4 years. You’ve got Vitek at 3.4 for the next 2. You’ll have Luke and Nemec on ELCs for part of that. Sure it’s not the easiest thing in the world but we’d still be in really good shape

Maybe I read wrong somewhere but isn't he assured of 10 million for next season?

If it's the case, I'd try to figure out a way to lower the cap hit closer to 7, 7.5 per year.

As for the trade, I don't have an issue with it, I don't really care about not protecting our pick for this season as it doesn't seem it will be in the top 20 anyway

His Qualifying Officer is 10M next season, but that doesn't guarantee he'd get that on a long-term contract.
