SOURCE: Sharks Want 3 Pieces for Meier?

Not sure if this was shared here but that's a reasonable ask from SJ?

What exactly is it saying?

“What I’m hearing is a first-rounder — and one Grade-A or two Grade-B prospects, or one good prospect and a young, established NHL player,” a source from outside the San Jose Sharks organization told San Jose Hockey Now.

What I’m seeing is a poorly constructed sentence. Have him rephrase that, good lord.

It’s saying this, I guess?
1) “a first rounder”
2A) “one Grade-A prospect or two Grade-B prospects”
3A) “one good prospect and a young, established NHL player”

Is this insider calling a 1st Rd pick a “a first rounder”? Because I hate them for that. Players can be called that, not picks. Yuck.

Like Vancouver, they likely don’t want to risk not getting a full-time NHLer in the trade and you safeguard against that by getting current player in the trade. (But they might not get that if the “Graded” prospects are used instead of just “Good” ones.)

What are our cap implications if we were to take on Meier? Significant money has to be going the other way to make it work right?

I mean don't we only a couple of million in space left?

50% Meier and 3M going back the other way in some fashion

What exactly is it saying?

Could be something like Muk, Holtz and a first or Sharangovich, Holtz and a first.

Maybe I'm just a snob because I always go to St John in the USVI, but ESPECIALLY if I had millions of dollars, going to a country where you have to stay on the resort for safety purposes... and going to an all inclusive super crowded resort just doesn't sound fun to me. There are more than enough places in St John, St Croix, the British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos... and more where you can get a luxury villa on a private beach and not see another human the whole time.
Tulum was pretty awesome. Stayed at Luv Tulum on this little one lane sand road that is now packed with boutique hotels for like $50, found their first available room now in Dec for 360 a night.

You're right though. Salt Cay in Turks&Caicos is the place, and there are ridiculous places if you charter a boat in BVI. Anyone know where 'off the beaten path' is these days? My info is about 10 yrs old. Thailand, Philippines, Cook Islands, Croatia were all great to us but I'm looking for advice now... And COVID took a bite out of our travel bug.

Satire is protected speech. Besides I already killed everyone that knows.

Breaking Jim

The retention’s pretty much irrevelant

Depends if they want something for it like Jim said but I mostly agree. They're not going to pigeon hole themselves for a return with Buffalo because of it. It's something small to consider though.

Cuba was a lot of fun. Been twice. The fishing was absolutely amazing.

Why? I have not been paying close attention to this especially the financial implications.

Because retaining for like 20-30 games doesn’t matter to them. If it helps facilitate a trade for a package they like then they’ll do it just like Vancouver just did

For

dog
too.
I promise I'll put Tom down after this, since this isn't the TaN thread, but shit we have ten days...but heard something cool he said about the metaphor for that song/album. After a gig when it rained heavy, he'd see a bunch of lost dogs standing in a lot unsure what to do with themselves because the rain washed away their scents and they couldn't find their way back.

“You know dogs in the rain lose their way back home. They even seem to look up at you and ask if you can help them get back home. ‘Cause after it rains every place they peed on has been washed out. It’s like Mission Impossible. They go to sleep thinking the world is one way and they wake up and somebody moved the furniture.”

San Jose only has two free retention spots after the Burns trade, not using one is better than using one.

I don’t really see us not getting a deal because it but we might have to give more than a team that take Meier without that.

Did you tour the Partagas factory?
No. I didn't do a lot of touristy stuff first time I only spent two days in Havana then off to a yacht that acted as a mother ship that we took smaller boats out fish every day for 7 days.

The second time I flew into Camanguay from Fort Lauderdale and then on to the mother ship.

Both times I was on the south side in the Gardens of the Queen "Jardines de la Reina". Camanguay is a very cool city and actually a UNESCO world heritage site.

I mean sure it’d be better to not than to use it but I don’t think them only having 2 spots matters. At most they’d end up using the 2 spots on Meier and EK and the Meier spot would free up again when this season ends.

Interesting article on what San Jose is looking for in a Meier trade:

Hypothetical scenario- if you had to pick between a package that includes Foote + Bahl compared to one that contains Muk, what do you prefer? With a loaded prospect pool, I’d take quality over quantity right now and would sooner deal Foote + Bahl and hold onto Muk.

literally couldnt care less. Whatever gets the deal done. They can have all three as far as I am concerned.

I'll take all 3 on a pogo stick to San Jose cross country for Meier.

When I read this earlier I was assuming it meant something like 1st+Holtz+Yegor. Reading it now it seems like it could be something like 1st+Holtz or Holtz+Yegor. I have a hard time believing either 1st+Muk or 1st+Football gets it done. I mean if it does then idk either is perfectly fine with me

Edit: But then it says 3 pieces so idk. Why is it so poorly worded?!? If it’s possible to get this done without Holtz and Yegor though that’d be f***ing insane. Also what does “good prospect” mean? Is it an A?
