They can’t lol.
They absolutely can. JJ Peterka and Jack Quinn are better players than Holtz and their first rounder is better than ours. Their B tier with guys like Savoie also seems to fit San Jose's needs better than ours.

I don't think it's a smart move for them in the long run, but they can definitely outbid us.

I remember the anti-leather spikes thing. Heavy Metal is so dangerous.

My brother was much more into metal (and a guitar player) but I did get taken to Judas Priest Screaming for Vengeance in 1982 at Meadowlands. Really took to Priest at a young age lol.
Ugh... I had tickets to that show. Iron Maiden was opening for them. I wasn't allowed to go because I had a final in school the next day :(

Maybe I'm just a snob because I always go to St John in the USVI, but ESPECIALLY if I had millions of dollars, going to a country where you have to stay on the resort for safety purposes... and going to an all inclusive super crowded resort just doesn't sound fun to me. There are more than enough places in St John, St Croix, the British Virgin Islands, Turks and Caicos... and more where you can get a luxury villa on a private beach and not see another human the whole time.

Tulum beaches are spectacular and it's not an all inclusive kind of place... it's very boutique, ecco-sheek thatched roof kind of place.

Good to know. My cousin was just there and she goes to the absolute worst places... and someone just told me "Tulum is hot right now" and that's the complete opposite of what I want to hear with regard to vacation destinations haha.

I prefer it to go this way"

Me- I'm going to Savannah Bay in Virgin Gorda

Someone else- Where?

Me- Exactly

Bah. Just made the decision yesterday to go to Antigua instead of Tulum. Maybe I made a mistake?
Might look at Antigua. During the pandemic, the US Virgin Islands kind of got exposed and spoiled because it was the only tropical place Americans could easily go to... and the prices of everything have doubled.

Meh. I go there cause it's cheap, and it'll be our 5th time there. If you look hard enough, airfare is under 400 direct flight and the place we stay at (The Verandah) is like 370/night for 2 people all-inclusive. The beaches are meh, but the pool and people are awesome.

I don't think so...the big knock on Tulum like @njdevil26 was just saying is it has been over run with people over the last bunch of years ...I first went there in 2009 and it was a sleepy yet touristy beach town full of hippies doing yoga...Now raves in the jungle with molly are all the rage.

I pass through when I go there. Maybe stay a night or two but I'm there for the fishing...and the fishing starts another hour south down a sand road in the town of Punta Allen in the Sian Ka'an biosphere.

I don't see a lot of people in Ascension Bay :)

Meier still has some control of where he can go, for example, his camp can put out word (behind the scenes) that he would be more interested in signing with us long term than Buffalo (or anyone), that in turn might make Buffalo not put out there best package if it's just a rental for them.

But that's only if he feels that way, he more likely will want to go where the most money is or has no issues playing for Buffalo.

I think teams like us and Buffalo are only going to put in the Holtzs and the Jack Quinns and the first rounders for a player committed long term. So that's Timo's power play he can utilize.

I put in some real work to finally “get” the post Asylum-years Tom Waits. I immediately loved The Heart of Saturday Night the first time I heard it. It took some time to like the subsequent Asylum releases and acquire a taste for “the voice,” but I eventually came around. Then it probably took months and multiple re-listens to finally like the Island Record releases and beyond. Swordfishtrombone was the one that did it. I’d say the boozy bar-room Asylum era is still my favorite, but depends on my mood. There was a year of my life where I couldn’t listen to anything other than Tom Waits because everything else just seemed plain and boring

One of my faves. My band is playing swordfishtrombones. Just saw a Tom Waits tribute last month.

Really curious to see if there is an extension attached to this Horvat deal. This essentially sets the market for Meier, I would imagine.

From a Devils perspective, Holtz + Sharangovich + 1st seems pretty in line with what Canucks just got. Value-wise, Devils should have no problems meeting that if Holtz and the first are on the table.

Lou is cooked as a gm with that horvat trade. This also worries me about Carolina grabbing Meier now that horvat is gone.

My hope is since Vancouver specifically wanted young NHLers that we could get away with keeping Yegor and throwing in Muk

Carolina striking out on Horvat is a bit concerning when it comes to Timo time

I honestly don't see how they could throw together a package to beat us. They do not scare me at all for Timo.

Buffalo worries me more than Carolina on Meier. What does Carolina reasonably have to offer for Meier that the Devils can't match? Maybe they could throw Jarvis in and it would be hard for the Devils to match, but I don't see that happening.

I do not like the idea of trading Rango. I know you have to give to get and objectively in a vacuum you include him every time to get a deal done. But he is the kind of reliable, skilled player that should come cheap when resigned that teams need to win Cups. I'd much rather include Z.

Curious as to the reasoning. I mean, I really like Z too so I don't think it's a stretch. But I think Yegor does more important little things that contribute to winning. He is so good along the boards and in tight spaces and it feels like that aspect of his game doesn't get enough appreciation. He's also a menace on the PK for opposing teams.

Yegor has to go in any deal. He will probably demand somewhere around what Mikheyev got (4.5M AAV for 3 to 4 years) ,they do have the same agency after all. I love the kid and he is so wholesome, but that is too expensive for the role he fills. The well dries up if he's not playing with Jack.

Yegor with talent is a really really good player. Yegor without talent is kind of just a guy and I don't think we'd end up keeping him high in the lineup. He is a good PKer though. Zetterlund on the other hand I think you can play throughout the lineup and he'll contribute
