So either Ruff is going to get the chance to make his own hires for the bench which he wasn't able to do... it's the last year of Ruff's deal...

Or I am still wondering if he gets moved to the front office after the playoffs and Fitz knows what coaches are actually available.
Or he ‘retires’ at a later date so as not to throw him out with the trash

I think Ruff‘s hiring was a combination of things. In no particular order ,
1. Cost (not as $$ as the big guns )
2. He was ok with having limited ”power “ where perhaps other coaches wanted say in roster decisions, player selection.
3. Wanted a coach better suited to develop Jack Nico Hughes’ offensive game first and foremost.
4. Coach that would be ok with playing inexperienced kids. Not coaching to win every game at all costs but rather use the kids in important roles and situations that normally wouldn’t be used in (PP1 / PK , game on the lime up or down a goal etc. in order to grow their game.

I see the Ruff hiring as him being brought in with the priority being development and implementing systems best suited for a young inexperienced players.

Hoepfully now , they bring in a coach that will coach more to win rather than a main focus on developing and giving the kids experience they normally wouldn’t get on a team.
Yeah this is basically how I see it, but it's mostly conjecture I think. Also cronyism possibly played a part as Fitz knew Ruff from his playing days.

Why does that need to be confirmed he has a year left on his contract
Ruff said he and the other coaches are going through an evaluation process.

The results for Nas and Recchi are they’re let go.

For me, if the results for Ruff were complete and he was staying then the press release would have mentioned that Ruff would be returning.

It appears to me Ruff is still under evaluation.

So give Torts a proven head coach a short leash but keep Ruff for years? That makes 0 sense. Idk why people are so scared of Torts. So what if Hughes or Bratt don't score as many points? Its not an individual sport its a team effort. Our players aint rookies anymore. This will be Hughes 4th year in the league. There comes a point when you got to teach these guys how to play with team structure/defense. The goal is to win games & get to the playoffs not cater to Hughes/Bratts point totals.
I think Bratt would gladly trade in his 70+ points for Devils victories and a playoff berth...

Don’t hold your breath waiting for the next press release because I can’t imagine you will see one. Housekeeping day was today

This is crazy. It was an easy decision to let Recchi and Nas go, Nas because of his contract and Recchi because he sucks. Ruff could go either way and they might be taking more than a few days to decide.

Out of respect to Nas and Recchi making this announcement once the decision was made just makes sense. No reason to hold that info and they can start to look for new opportunities earlier.

Not saying Ruff will or won't be back, but it's insane to think that because they made this one announcement any house cleaning is already complete for the off-season.

Fitz is going to give an exit interview. Ruff will be one of the first questions asked if the team hasn’t put out a statement.

Ruff and the team both know the talk about coaches being fired. If Ruff is staying the team will say so to stop those discussions.

I think they see if any coach they have targeted shakes loose.
Cant fire Ruff , then possibly strike out on Bruce B and others , then circle back to Ruff ? Oops sorry Lindy . We need you after all , Bruce B took the VanC job after all.

I hope Ruff wants to stay on in some other role and we get a new coach. He seems to have a good relationship with the players and has helped many of them.

The same people who asked questions a few days ago. They asked Ruff himself about if he was returning.

Unless you think they’ll not ask Fitz about it after asking Ruff.

LOL! Just posted another happy dance! :D :D
Well done, sir.

Finally.....

*FINALLY* this franchise has MOVED ON from the Hynes Era by virtue of getting rid of Hynes Left-overs (Nas). :vhappy:

Now watch this team improve via addition by subtraction in that whomever Lindy gets as his new assistants(provided he somehow survives and stays on as Head Coach) will be eons better.

No more bad JuJu.

Let's F'N GOOOOO!!
