If that’s the price for Debrincat they can kick rocks.

They can sit on the sidelines for the first round

Ya.
The only reason they’re looking into Debrincat is because they are trying to recoup what lost in the Jones trade last offseason.
They look really stupid right now because of that trade. They’re a bad team and they should be picking 6th overall.

But he won’t get them that return and they shouldn’t be trading him anyways because he’s a player who can help lead their team into the future.
It would make much more sense for them to trade Patty Kane retained and try to recoup some assets that way. There are teams that would pay a heavy price for a year of Kane at 5.25M. Not necessarily gonna get that return or get a top 5 pick but they could get a nice mix of picks, and/or prospects and young players.

How is it that in 2017 when we had first overall, dealing with the Flyers media was way easier than dealing with what Montreal's media is doing with these garbage proposals?

Montreal is the worst. People think it's Toronto but in reality it's Montreal.

here is the writeup on Bratt. ZERO chance he was available for trade at last years deadline.

Scoop: Admittedly, Bratt is a bit of a perplexing name on the board. GM Tom Fitzgerald said after the season Bratt is a big part of New Jersey’s future. Makes sense. He is a heck of a player. He’s young. He’s worked his way to become a point-per-game guy from a sixth-round pick. On the other hand, sources indicated Bratt was available at the deadline last spring. To my knowledge, there have been no contract extension talks to this point for what will be an expensive deal. Add in Fitzgerald’s mandate to find “hard skill” this summer, and well, it makes you wonder.
Yes we want ship out a big source of our skill to bring in a different kind of skill, to blunt the overall benefits of the new “hard skill” addition as much as possible.

I dug up the old list (blame Reddit if it’s wrong lol) and compared it to the update. It’s super gross that Bratt’s the highest ranked new edition but whatever. At least our 2OA pick blessedly fell from #5 to #7.

@StevenToddIves is having a little debate with him in the comments of that twitter thread lol.

Norlander, lol, a not very big allegedly offensive minded Swedish LHD with very meager offensive production. He’s talented(ish), but he’s way down the Habs depth chart and they play dudes off the street (Sami Niku, Kale Klague) and/or other rando prospects (Jordan Norris, Corey Schueneman)
more than him and with more minutes.

I like how he’s arguing that Arber Xhekaj, the LHD overager that the Habs signed as a FA out of the OHL, is a better prospect than Nikita Okhotiuk so we should be excited to get him in a pile of random stuff for the 2OA.

He’s a month younger than Okhotiuk and still in the OHL. He’s also 6’4” and 225, I’m sure he looks good now terrorizing teen boys at age 21.

He’s big and hits, and that’s fun and all, but he shouldn’t come up in this trade for a blue chip asset.

And they can shove the #26 pick up their ass, good lord, who cares about that.

Where did this guy get the idea we would even want to trade 2nd overall for defense or all things? Did he just look at GA and assume it?

He brought up Subban leaving but he does realize Subban was playing on our 3rd pairing? Fitz is going to be looking for a Subban replacement but we aren't parting with high end assets for a 3RD.

Top of the shopping list is goaltending and a high end winger. That hasn't been a secret.

This guy is clearly a nutcase and delusional. There’s so many absurd takes he has and weird opinions. And they’re strong opinions. Like he is convinced the Habs won’t take Wright first overall and there’s no chance that will happen despite everything and everyone in the hockey world pointing to Wright as the most likely pick. He’s also had some absurdly bad prospect takes over the years and seemingly continues to.

The crazy part is that he was an NHL scout for 2 years. That’s insane and scary.
But the fact that his career only lasted 2 seasons and that was all he ever did says a ton. Most scouts stick around wayyy longer than that. And it’s not like he moved onto something else or got another job or anything. He was there for 2 years, they said see ya and 12 years later he’s on twitter just talking about them still and seemingly covering their AHL team to some extent.

That’s not typical and it’s probably because he’s an idiot who should’ve never worked for an NHL team in the first place.

New Jersey(No Fanz!)

If that’s what they’re actually looking for we gotta be out. No way we’re offering 2ovr, a young player, and top prospects.

I’m also not thinking he’ll get traded reading that. I think they’re hoping someone will do what they did for Jones and while Debrincat is better than Jones I doubt anyone offers high draft picks (plural), a young player, and top prospects for him. Maybe 1 or 2 of those things depending on high and how good of players involved we’re talking.

I think that about puts an end to any Debrincat to NJ discussions here.

Smell ya later, Chicago! :thumbd:

We are quickly approaching the draft (July 7-8) and free agency (July 13) and we haven’t even heard a whisper about the coaching staff.

Are they trying to poach people off the Lightning or Avs?! I find this whole situation to be an utter disaster. Why? Ruff, has stated in the passed he has full input with both the PP and PK. The staff works as a team/whole. How the hell is a shake up going to work, if the new coaches have to work within Ruff’s system? Lets say by some chance Ruff does well next season, does he get an extension? The organization looks unstable this offseason, I wonder how that will attract FA’s?!

(Look how many teams announced their coaches during the playoffs.)

Habs fan coming in peace. Sorry for all of those terrible trade proposals for #2. I actually come for another reason.

I collect hockey cards and last night I pulled a bigger Dawson Mercer card. It is a Young Gun Exclusive out of 100 for anyone curious. Cards tend to sell well once a new product is released and two have sold already at $300 USD.

I had only watched him play a handful of times last year. He did impress me a lot. Stat watching he had a really good rookie year. What does next season look like for him? Anyone have any ideas who his line mates could be? Any ideas on stats projections? He was 82-17-25-42 this past season. What do you think he maxes out at?

Sorry for all of the questions. I’m just seeing if I should try to sell the card now while I can get top dollar for it. Or if I am better to hold on to it and tuck it away for a few years and if he really progresses well then I am sitting on a much bigger value card.

If there's no staff in place by the draft then worry. Until then it's a non issue

I don't know why people insist on dredging up the most awful takes from twitter to put them here. I get that it's a long offseason, but twitter is twitter, this guy doesn't post here and has almost no authority at all.
