As pointed out in the Brooks article, I think Quinn is really pushing a lot of the rookies. And some of that is starting to show through.
But it also feels like while the staff is teaching them to process the game faster. To make faster decisions to get control the puck and get it out of danger and up the ice, there is absolutely no coaching going on in the offensive end.
The powerplay is simply get it to Panarin or Zib and hope they score.
The offensive zone is simply force turnovers then skate around trying to make passes until the puck ends up on the least offensive player's stick so they can shoot a muffin into the goalie crest or completely miss the net.
There is no clear offensive system in place. This worked fine last year when Zib and Panarin were feeling it and could will the pucks into the net. With that not happening, it's a game of hot potato and that is simply not acceptable at this level.
