Do you honestly believe ADA is being unfairly persecuted (again), and it’s that persecution that now has him looking for his fourth organization in 7 years, has resulted in a fight with a teammate, and has caused other teams do their research and conclude, “eh, not going there right now?”

Why did they trade our #1 center and our backup goalie for him then?

Why did they trade our #1 center and our backup goalie for him then?

Because three and a half years ago they loved the talent, hoped the maturity would come, and were willing to roll the dice.

In 2021, the talent is there, the maturity was there until it wasn't, and less teams are willing to roll the dice on a 25 year old than they were a 21 year old.

The veterans are underperforming, the young players are underperforming SEVERELY offensively (and just in general) compared to not only our own expectations but according to historical expectation.

The team looks flat, lifeless and/or unprepared way too often and that's been a problem for Quinn's whole tenure.

Yet It's too early to imagine Quinn is an issue, too early to imagine the roster was put together in a flawed manner and people are just too impatient for a rebuild.

Everything is fine even though the vast majority of players are underpefomring and the team is just losing, losing, losing,

Coming into this season we could say the following:

We fairly recently brought in Trouba for 8 M, panarin for 11, Zib is a legit 1C at what, 5 M?

We have a FIRST OVERALL PICK out there, a SECOND OVERALL PICK out there

We have a top G prospect in the world out there. On defense we have another 1st rounder out there in Miller, a former 2nd rounder who is now a young, slid vet in Lindgren.

If you cannot get it done WITH ALL THIS TALENT then SOMETHING is not being done right...most likely multiple somethings by mult people

LOL our number one center. for ADA

He was hot garbage his last year here and EVERYONE knew how awful his contract would soon be. How are you so consistently able to reshape reality to conveniently fit whatever narrative you're pushing for the day. That's not normal or healthy
We also got a top 10 pick in the draft but you're legitimately incapable of acknowledging that bc it would hurt your point

Then you're on the "ADA is being persecuted for politics" bandwagon which is a level of willful delusion clearly based on the politics you keep telling everyone "I'm not gonna talk about".

You believing it's a conspiracy against ADA's politics is about as unsurprising as the finger someone lost the day they jammed their hand into a buzzsaw.

The funniest thing is the DEGREE to which ADA is delusional when pushing his politics online is exactly what we expect from angry little men who are disenfranchised and looking for a way to point the finger of blame anywhere but inwards. ADA is also known for an abnormally hot temper. Definitely an interesting coincidence that his personality type lines up with what could be expected from someone who pushes the delusional conspiracies he pushes.

ADA is not a paragon of virtue, in fact he's so far from it that NO ONE should be blindly defending him the way you and several others are. He's a gifted athlete with a unique history of losing his temper in ways that are not typical of a normal human let alone a normal hockey player. He was the architect of his own demise bc of his consistent inability to control himself and conduct himself like an adult/professional both on the ice and off it. To blame the political boogeyman is pure nonsense.

And I'm on the side of "We shouldnt have booted ADA" but he is what he is.

Pretty sure we received a high first round pick in that deal. Stepan was available because the organization was concerned about his skating as he got older and Raanta, although a good goalie was easily replaced. They took a shot on Tony and although his play, especially last year, was pretty good, his demons couldn't be controlled and now he is really labeled.

@Edge i respect your opinion on all things NYR.

i believe what i wrote. kids been this way his whole career. hot head. quinn couldn't deal with him.

witch hunt hit piece cancel culture road kill. thats what i believe. the optics were poor. its NYC and hes not allowed to be like he is. the narrative was written in stone. true or untrue didnt matter.

his skills are undeniable. his politics are cancellable. he was a good solid teammate and well liked. georgie hit him. from what i read. he said something in the heat of the moment. happens.

it did not have to get to here. thats what i believe.

sad ending for him.

this team has more issues than tony.

quinn has to go.
No other team with any other coach in any other city was willing to take him for no cost at all. It’s an issue with him, not with anything specific to this organization, which is his third already if you forgot.

A run of hot goalies and bad bounces can suck the life out of a young team and that's exactly what I see happening here. I see a young team that is frustrated by their results so far and they're shrinking in the face of adversity. They've been in most games this year and have lost several that they should have won. They fought their way back into the game last night only to lose their leader on the blue line to an injury then fell behind on a miracle double-deflection. You could tell it just sucked the life out of them. That kind of thing is going to happen with a young team and it will get resolved with time.

The bigger concern is that the veterans are falling into that same mentality. Kreider and Zibanejad seem to be spending their time feeling sorry for themselves instead of stepping up and setting an example.

I think “what is our system” is a tough question generally. If someone doesn’t deeply understand the X’s and O’s of the game at this level - and I admittedly don’t - any talk about defining any teams system is going to be hard to nail down in a meaningful way.

Having said that, yeah it’s hard to describe generally the way they want to play. I’d think it’s quick transitions out of the D zone and then focusing on forcing lateral movement in the o-zone. But they’re not executing it well at all recently. They were doing it pretty well at the start of the season and just not getting luck but it’s gotten worse since then for sure

Sure. But when you face a Trotz coached team, you know what to expect and what they are trying to do, even if you don't understand the Xs and Os. Same for a Torts team, an AV team, etc. I don't really know what to expect or what the Rangers are trying to do, and we are 3 years in. Sure we get a lot of meaningless platitudes from Quinn about playing with good intentions and such, but I feel like I'm watching a college team.

The development of the young kids for the rest of this year has to be the main goal. I still worry that some development will be stunted by lack of talent in the middle. The elephant in the room IMO is the center position going forward. The only young one we have right now with promise is FC. You really have to think hard about Zibs future on this team. Do you really want to pay this guy to be a number 1 based on his inconsistency? Tough call. After that it all up in the air. Howden- no thanks and I can't wait for Strome to go. There needs to be a re-balancing of depth. I would give up a couple of wingers not named KK and LaF in order to bring in a legit center. I think a good center can lift the play of his wings but a bad center can hurt their production.

exactly

no he wasn't...but DeAngelo gets banished for it...makes no sense whatsoever

You know teammates getting into scuffles happens all the time with usually no discipline right? The circumstances for Georgiev are different than Tony because Georgiev a) hasnt been mouthing off to anyone in shouting distance for 3 years b) wasnt warned to keep his nose clean and grow up
