I remember commenting on this when everything came out.

Foote isn't good enough to bother with.

I believe McLeod is UFA after next year so retaining his rights past next season is irrelevant.

Hart is the troubling one. He's younger and keeps RFA status for 25-26. Qualifying him keeps him RFA for the season after his court date is expected to occur.

Yup. We are still suffering from Shero's terrible mismanagement of defense and goaltending.

And that's why people think our "window is open "

Because the forwards are 5/6 years ahead of the goaltenders and defense...when it should've been done in reverse or at the very least a more balanced approach.
You are missing the point that this team needed everything when shero took over, offense, defense, goaltending. They focused in on forwards.had they focused on defense you would be sitting here saying that shero never addressed offense lol. The reality is that one was always going to lack behind the other because A. They were never in a position to really hand out free agent contracts and B. We’re never really in position to trade high value picks.

High value forwards are just as hard to come by but in reality you should take ur gripes with Lou for refusing to rebuild and holding on the bone dust of a core of Elias,Henrique, zubrus and brodeur all while trying to patch that with the likes of Rutuu,Ryder,Jagr, Bruner
The lou cherry on top is punting 11 overall for matteau and that 31st pick

Com on... the first 3 years under shero we didn't use one of our top 3 picks on defense.

And when we did we drafted little twirps

3 years, 25 picks and the highest we took a defender was Reilly Walsh at #87

When shero finally did use a top 3 pick on defense 4 drafts later it was Ty f***ing Smith....that's only defender we took higher than #87 in 4 Shero drafts

4 drafts - 31 picks - 14 top 100 picks not a single serviceable defenseman. Not 1.

Wasn't shero in charge when we drafted okhotyuk in the second and misyul in the third?

Or are you talking strictly before that?

Yes he was. He drafted 4 Dmen in 2019 the 5th draft he was in charge of.

I was talking about the first 4 drafts.

But it's even worse than that....not one defender Shero brought to New Jersey is still in the league and not a single defender he drafted is in the league.

The defense was trashed under Shero

The year Shero came in (May of 2015) we drafted MacKenzie Blackwood in the 2nd round. Not sure how much impact he had on that draft, but it seems we did prioritize goaltending. Unfortunately, it didn't work out.

And the forwards were trash under Lou

Now go look back at Lou’s blunders and tell me how that didn’t negatively effect the forward group

Shero was behind the 8 ball because of the no rebuild mentality of Lou.

Okhotyuk was basically in the NHL last season only 5 in the AHL. Not that hewas anything to write home about, but an NHL D-man.in the NHL last season. Misyul came over from the KHL last season for the first time and and played well for the Comets, but also had injuries to limit his season to 44 games. After Nemec, he is the best "drafted" D-man in the system.

Casey will be a challenge to any D-man in Utica next season. Only Misyyl has close to his skating skills.

I just puked in my mouth, spit it into a blender, took a shit in the blender and then poured it into a sock that I wore for a full day in disney world and that’s less gross than whatever the f***ing hell this is.
Did you pour it all into a sock you previously wore in Disney or into a new sock that you then wore to Disney? Because if it's the latter, you did all that long before he posted and that makes it much more strange.

Any truth to the rumor that Markstrom essentially forcing his way to NJ?

5th this year and a 7th next year. Done.

I don’t think it would be quite that cheap, but that’s probably the only circumstance under which I’d want to trade for Markstrom. Even then I’m wary because of his age, contract, and inconsistency.

We'd be in a sort-of win-now mode due to his age.

Let’s forget about Shero, wrong purposes, wrong decision, wrong methods, bad results, couple of lucks on the draft, bad management, couple of good trades, tonns of wrong trades, firing and the expected absence of a new job offer for the position of general manager.

Let’s focus on actual gm. He is making good and bad decisions by himself, some have good outcome, some have bad outcome. There are much more actual problems than Shero’s failures.
