Even without our top 2 centers we generated 40 scoring chances in the last two periods. Dougie hit a pipe, Jordan made 3 crazy saves and Bratt missed an open net. It’s not like they were pinned down.

To the doom and gloomers, this is called positivity ^
Haven’t seen a single post after the game saying they played poorly. You should quote some of them.

It really sucks with no Jack and Nico but we still have a good amount of talent. I wonder who’s getting in next game.

Meier has been ok but he needs to step up a bit, Palat too. Mercer HAS to show up, he really has been ass.

I don’t want them to go full turtle mode to get by but they have to tighten up on the backend. It’ll make things much easier.
I liked Meier's game tonight. Skated and created.

The system is fine.

We had blues on their heels for most of the last half of 3rd period. They could barely get out of their zone. Except on a few quick rushes.

Frankly the team was missing a bit of luck with the bounces at end. Bennington also stoned the shit outta us.

It only looks fine because it's made up for by having ridiculously elite talent in Jack and Bratt. They could really use a much better structured system.

I still would’ve chose violence. Run Binnington regardless if it was an “accident.” His record is too long to give the benefit of the doubt…
After looking at replays I don't even think Binnington touched him? Could be wrong though.

In my mind the Devils are tailor made to play an aggressive defensive system in the offensive and neutral zone but play a bend but don’t break counter-attack defense in the defensive zone. Obviously just my opinion.

The Devils should generate lots of odd man rushes with their roster but the way they defend they generate only a few.

10 games with 0 points and barely even being noticeable out there…this is very very concerning considering Mercer never had great underlying numbers to begin with. I’m getting quite frightened at the prospect that his first couple of seasons were a fortunate high water mark for him. He’s looked so completely ineffective that it’s hard not to panic.

If it’s me and we’re without Jack, I guess I’d do:

Palat-McLeod-Bratt
Meier-Haula-Toffoli
Lazar-Mercer-Holtz
Whoever-Tierney-Bastian

I’d prefer Holtz get a chance with some of the more creative players, but at least he’s helping generate some opportunities.

It’s certainly rough watching him right now but I still think the talent displayed in the 164 prior games tells us more than these 10.

We are down 2 centers if Jack cannot come back .... we might need a fill in
Ya but there is nobody in the entire AHL that can fill in for Jack or Nico.

Dowling can play some games at the NHL level and that’s what AHL depth looks like. He will fill in at the bottom of your lineup, like most AHL guys.
