Wow, this place has a completely different group of posters when things aren’t going well.

Devils never beat the blues, just take the positives that Akita and Luke had good games, hope that jack is ok and move on
Same posters. But after last night you expect a similar effort. Playing glorified "me" hockey and losing basically 2-1 (empty netters were basically window dressing) to a team like St. Louis felt like a 2020-21 flashback.

Was hoping to never experience one of those again.

On the breakout when the other team has sustained pressure, the system certainly relies on individual talent to make it work. Harder when you lose Jack and Nico.

It would be nice if the system helped the guys have some synergy instead of waiting for a guy to talent a solution into existence.

If a system relies on individual talent, that's not a system. That's just having really good players.

Kevin Bahl in the postgame just now “we can’t win games 5-3 or 4-2. We’re gonna need to learn to win 1-0 now.”

But yeah, Jack and Nico will both be back by Friday.

The system is fine.

We had blues on their heels for most of the last half of 3rd period. They could barely get out of their zone. Except on a few quick rushes.

Frankly the team was missing a bit of luck with the bounces at end. Bennington also stoned the shit outta us.

Agreed. I’ve never thought the transition from swarm defense to breakout worked. The defenders are all standing next to each other, standing still, with opponents next to them.

It only looks ok sometimes because you have a few neutral zone magicians who paper over the cracks in the foundation. One of those magicians is out now.

"Watch both still be out on Friday."

Negative just to be negative. It's just annoying when it's always the worst case scenario when an injury occurs. It's getting beyond old. More power to you though.
No, I responded to the sarcastic post saying “watch both be back by Friday.” My point is we have no information either way, you can easily say the opposite.

There’s no reason to attack the obvious point that this team is going to have to find ways to win without Jack and Nico. It’s not a controversial point, it’s just life right now.

It really sucks with no Jack and Nico but we still have a good amount of talent. I wonder who’s getting in next game.

Meier has been ok but he needs to step up a bit, Palat too. Mercer HAS to show up, he really has been ass.

I don’t want them to go full turtle mode to get by but they have to tighten up on the backend. It’ll make things much easier.
