It was exhausting to watch Lundqvist's heroics mean nothing season after season because the team could just never score enough big goals to accomplish anything. Here we are again, with history repeating with Shesterkin. The names change, the systems change, the years change but the lone constant is that this offense simply comes up short time and time again.
We've only had two real attempts with Shesty. Unfortunately, we probably only will have two more because as much as we love him we can not pay him 10 million plus unless Panarin and Trouba magically disappear.

Would Hughes rather play with bottom 6 by reputation Haula or best American born of all time Kane? Asking for a friend, who wears #71 in Raleigh.

We don't need a rebuild, that's a tad bit of an overreaction.

One change will change the course of the next 3 seasons:

Chris Drury needs to pull a Tampa/McDonagh on Panarin:

Waive your NMC and work with us, or we will waive you and the lowest team can pick you first.

3 years left on Panarins contract will all be wasted seasons. Cannot win with 11.6 million in useless cap come playoff time. That's 2 contributing top 6 forwards @ 5 million plus nearly 2 million for another move.

I'm not even really arguing against your point about Panarin. It's that you think it's going to change anything and the fact that you want to promote worse players. Lafreniere had zero points in that series.

The only good reason to give the shit-filled diapers a bigger role is if we're just rebuilding again. They'll help the tank tremendously.

They didn’t play Chytil and Kakko enough all season. Lafreniere I can take or leave but he’s most likely sticking around due to his contract. Might as well see if a 21 year old has untapped potential with a bigger role. We have seen this veteran core is not good enough even with massive deadline moves. What was Kreider as a 21 year old?

Sorry guys, there is no hope that Panarin, Trouba, etc, are going anywhere without sending even more futures with them to the point it makes moving them counter productive.

The cap hits, the clauses, the term left, they are Rangers or the Rangers get worse.

What the Rangers could do, stop surrounding Panarin with players he wants to play with, or has in the past.

Yet even if, the damage is done. These core guys, those with high cap hit, long term, clauses, are either here or the Rangers end up worse in the future for moving them or buying them out.

Worst thing they can do is give Tarasenko or Kane any extension, next issue extending Shesty to a giant contract, none of that helps them long term.

Bring on the pain. Panarin, Trouba, Fox, Shesty, Zbad, Kreider, Trocheck, are their core, pretty much for the foreseeable future.

Devils deserved it, hopefully they feel the loss of Meier next round. We took our pound of flesh. Let's get that 1st round pick and hit on it with BPA. Maybe focus on C or D. Particularly RHD to play behind Fox. Let's try to shop Panarin quietly and try to punt a few players to the moon. Let Kane have surgery and decide if he wants to come back cheap. Try to re-sign Tarasenko- he impressed me. Mikkola can kick rocks. Schneider can kick rocks. Laf and Kakko can kick rocks. Gonna be a serious summer.
