Messier said on ESPN he basically thinks the Devils will be completely fresh going into the Carolina series because the Rangers did not establish any physicality/wear and tear on the Devils. Pretty sad

That chasm is only going to grow between the Rangers and Devils unfortunately too. Going to be painful. Their rebuild looking much brighter than our rebuild already. Granted, things aren't usually linear, but NJD going to be tough for a long time.

Devils actually rebuilt. Rangers abandoned the rebuild the instant they signed Panarin. Then it became a "retool". Had they fully committed themselves to rebuild like the Devils did, we'd be on par with them right now.
