Except it just wasn't one tournament, it was 3. Hlinka-Gretzky against his own age group where he dominated, the Olympics & the World Championships. He looked ptetty good in the 2 WJC games before the cancelation too.

The only place he didn't play great was in Liiga, which is probably why they want him to play in North America next season. They'll have better control over his development too.
But that's the thing...it's just a handful of games, in a setting where you want to elevate your game. I want to see him excel more on his day-to-day league. How does he do when he has to travel around to play games over a long period. How does he respond when he gets into a 10 game slump? What about North American play, will he thrive under a more aggressive and physical setting, or will he back away when there's plenty of guys who'll be able to knock the puck off his stick?
Turning up in international games is a good thing but I really don't think it means much of anything, so much so that I wouldn't even look at that aspect.
How does the AHL compare to Liiga? Similar but on smaller ice?

Hopefully, it'll prove to be the right pick, having a big skilled powerforward would be wonderful.

Only if he can't cut it at D.

Maybe something to consider after he turns pro. It's premature at this stage yes. A very interesting prospect with loads of skating/skill but lacks size.

Personally, I don't like undersized D men. They can look good in the regular season but playoffs are a different animal.

Thought the same thing.

Only problem is with Caufield, having two wingers that small can be a problem.

I'd be OK with Caufield, Farrell, and Hutson on wing but that's it. Rest need to be physically strong.

Regardless, where we drafted Hutson was ideal. That's the draft power I have been talking about for years now. It helps bring in guys like this where you have options to take them in the mix of others who have size.

Would it be a terrible idea to consider Hutson at wing?

If he has too much trouble with big forwards as a defender, but is a great pp qb, I really hope they try this.

Caufield, Farrell, and Hutson is approaching the limit of small wingers, plus 1st round pick Mesar. But I still say grab and develop talent. They can always be traded for other areas of need if we have too much in one area.

Oh boy no. Three small wingers, all of them purely offensive too? That wouldn't work IMO, unless you have a bunch of Lindros to play with them.

The key is how they are surrounded and what the centers and D looks like. Smaller skilled types can be impactful if the rest of the line-up is solid.

In the past, we had smaller wingers but our centers were meh. That has ripple effects.

Depends on how the rest of the line-up looks... especially at center and on D. Solid centers and D can be a core and the smaller skilled guys can produce. This is why I would value Suzuki/PLD over Suzuki/Dach

3 smaller skilled wingers would have to be on 3 separate lines but can play together on the PP.

The little dman who could!

It's going to be very interesting to look back in 3-5 years and see who bust, who is a hit, and who is meh. I like how the youth potential is piling up. For every 3 misses, we hit on 1? If so, we are in very good shape.

Love where to took Hutson. Keep the draft power going cause it's basically how Tampa hit on Kucherov, Point, and Cirelli.

I know Simon Boisvert, who's a very strange guy, said that Hutson back skating was bad. Am I exaggerating or it does seems like a it's hard for him to skate backward?

I thought the same when I saw the video. Seems a little off balance and not very crisp.
