Slaf at WJC, I’m not sure. Probably rather see training in Montreal with NHLers. Long term, I would like to see Hossa reach out and train with him. Hos said Slaf is a better player than he was at his age, but that he also still has lots of room to grow and stuff to work on. If there is one Slovak former player that could help Slaf reach his potential, it’s him.

As for Mesar, to me OHL is best option. Jake Neighbours was still in juniors this past season and he is way more pro ready physically than Mesar. Mesar and Pinelli as a duo in Kitchener would be good, and Mesar would get lots of ice time and be the first option on the PP.

I wouldn't put too much stock in a push at development camp. I'm sure Slafs 40 plus pounds over Kapanen wins out 99% of the time. Plus, maybe Kapanen simply got under Slafs centre of gravity.

I agree with the original post, he shouldn’t be rushed and it is also true that it is just 1 clip. Here is Anderson kind of off balance trying to check Slaf after a turnover and it barely does anything to him. I think this shift overall was Slaf’s best of the tournament

And people were laughing at him not scoring against canada lol he was clearly the best player anyways!

Well I mean assuming we don't trade Anderson.

Anderson - 6'3
Dach - 6'4
Slaf - 6'3
Armia 6-3
Dvorak 6'2
Poehling - 6'2
Pezetta - 6'1

And Hoffman, Drouin, Evans, Dauphin all 6'0
Dadonov and Suzuki 5'11

The NHL lineup is actually pretty decent size at forward.

Was only talking about that development group though.

On that shift you mean? Or in that one game?

People laughed at how some seem to put all their eggs in Slaf based on his international play. It's an odd decision as we always hear ''don't judge this kid based on his World Junior Championship, as it doesn't mean anything''.

Remember, if we based ourselves on that...Romanov and Poehling would be absolute studs on our team now, but as we know, that's far from being the case.
So, let's wait it out..

My point is that he was all over the ice every shift, just because he didn't score in that specific game it doesn't make him bad as people were trying to say ''oh he's invisible against teams like canada but put up points against bad teams!''

I hate judging players on international tournaments only. I really do. But....there is a difference between international tournaments against people way much older and U-18 and even U-20 at your age or really close to it.

Still...I didn't have him 1st because I STILL don't like judging players on tournaments...

He was terrific in that game vs Canada. I remember he led both teams in shots on goal (I believe 5) and was a handful for Canada's NHL defense.

You've got it wrong. It's "don't hold a WJC performance against a draft eligible" because it's a tournament normally ruled by 19 year olds. His play in the Worlds was very impressive.

Not many guys can keep up with Anderson once he starts accelerating and Slaf actually chased him down and took the puck. Pains me to say it but Wright would have hung back and said to himself that the Dman has Anderson so he doesn't need to chase him.
