Please no.

I don't want any more of our players in a game that means NOTHING risk getting hurt.

Can we stop with this false narrative already. The game does mean something and it's been proven by how hard the players are playing and the TV viewership backs up that fans are equally interested in it. Hell it's the most hockey has been talked about in ages.

From an entertainment perspective it's been awesome. I still really don't give a shit who wins the tournament, and I don't think most people 20 years from now will either, but they'll remember the fights and the players genuinely caring. We've all waited a long time to see best on best (even if it's only 4 teams) with this generation of talent and they haven't disappointed so far.

I definitely want USA to win this tourney, and if they do it will likely be one that people do remember years from now.

Unless the Devils win the cup this year there is no way 20 years from now I'll remember who did. Shit, I just had to google that no one won the Cup 20 years ago.

Eh this is getting ridiculous making Quinn out to be prime Gretzky coming in to save the day nevermind the fact that he can’t. It’s just putting more pressure on the team and causing a distraction let Sanderson play and be done

Look, I think this tournament has, for the most part, been fun.

However, let's not make it out to be bigger than it actually is.

It means absolutely nothing for the NHL Regular Season.

And it's not as if it's the Olympics or something either.

Also, yeah...the players are playing hard and I wish other sports had this type of effort as well.

But take a look at the injuries that the U.S. team has gotten lately....

...how would you (or any Devils fan) feel if Jack, god forbid, got hurt?

I doubt you'd be all "false narrative" this or that.

Instead, you'd be lamenting Jack getting hurt in a MEANINGLESS game in a MEANINGLESS Tournament.

So now we have Jack in an upcoming game against Canada where...it's going to be FUN to watch but at the same time, I'm going to be sitting on pins-and-needles hoping he comes out of that game Healthy 'cause guess what? WE NEED HIM for the rest of the season that's resuming this Saturday.

I mean...I was ecstatic for Bratt coming out of the Tournament Healthy so I'm now doing the same in hoping for a similar result for Jack.

It's like a wrestling feud where you don't know who is going to show up for the run ins.

*glass breaks*

"Wait a minute, what's gonna happen here? Wait...that's Cale Makar!"

*gong sounds*

"Bah gawd, that's Quinn Hughes' music!"

I enjoyed telling my friend yesterday how Jackie Redmond manages to be in both the WWE and NHL universe.

Years of watching 'rasslin made me assume Io Shirai was going to interfere during the WBC championship game.

I'm not worried about him getting hurt and if it happened it happened. I love USA Hockey and I've been waiting forever for them to win something more than the juniors tournament. I want them to show Canada that it's our game now on Thursday.

I'm probably going to the game on Thursday because it's going to be one of the craziest atmospheres that hockey has seen in a long time.

I'm also use to rooting for club and country at the same time because of soccer. I just don't worry about injuries, they can happen any time.

You can yap that it's meaningless till your blue in the face but all of the players and the vast majority of the fans have shown that you are wrong. People do care about this tournament and have pride in their country's teams. The players talking about it being the biggest and most important games they have played in the careers and the viewership doesn't lie...

"The NHL announced its ratings for Saturday's game between the bordering nations, indicating that a total of 10.1 million viewers tuned in across all of North America. That's an increase of as much as 203% from the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, and makes it the most-watched hockey game, excluding Stanley Cup finals games, since 2014.

ESPN's broadcast of the game received an average of 4.4 million viewers and a peak of 5.2 million. That would indicate that Sportsnet, which was the main broadcaster of the game in Canada, produced similarly large numbers."

Have fun then.

I'll be watching from my couch and hoping for a injury-free game. 🤞

Jack got hurt last year and you could say every game they played meant nothing

Getting injured in the regular season sucks and it happens unfortunately. It's how it goes when you're battling to make the playoffs every year.

But getting injured in a non-regular season Tournament is even worse (like..what was the point? It's not like you were battling to get 2 points in a game that counted toward the standings and the playoff race).

You think the fans of those other players who are out injured are thrilled at this point? I doubt it.

It's apparent I'm in the minority here in thinking that this Tourney (as fun as it has been) is not as BIG as some claim.

My only hope is no injuries to our players (aka Jack Hughes). That's all.
