But this is very short sighted approach and doesn't look at the long term.

Your over thinking it, but that's up to you.

At the moment I don't care about the long term. I care very much about making the playoffs, competing for the Stanley Cup and any thing that helps us do that.

When the Rangers are done, I start thinking about the draft and so on...

If you watch Brassard and Wolski you can see the difference.

?

I watch them both and I see quite a few similarities. Both are highly skilled playmakers, but largely inconsistent players. Bad possession players, but good individual traits. Hanging onto the puck and creating space separates the good from the great.

For reference, I just searched this thread after Wolski's first 10 games as a Ranger and look at the overwhelming response he got:

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=871815

There are a lot of debates in that thread the same thing that is going as in this one. One side is saying we need larger sample size, because his line of work career wise isn't impressive. While the other side is saying he's a changed player from the 7 game sample size with the Rangers.

I meant in the long run as in next 30-40 games. Brassard throughout his career has had stretches where he puts up a lot of points a few nights then goes cold rest of the month.

So far so good with him. He's a good Ranger, Right now. I think it's foolish to spend any time waiting for him to fail.

I saw Brassard skate back the entire length of the ice to get in the way of a 2 on 1 the other night. He really hustled.

In the same situations, I witnessed Wolslki take a leisurely stroll back. Wolski was a lump, nothing more to be said about him.

Brassard is looking good, he's got some passion and some creativity in his bones.

Kershaw does it make you physically ill when a Ranger plays well? I mean how can you be you, if a Rangers player does well? You seem to take great pleasure at the prospect of the Rangers players sucking.

If somebody can provide a valid criticism of a player, I have an open mind and will listen.
Sometimes, I just think some posters here expect every player to be perfect at offense, defence, and everything in between.
For that reason, I wonder why anybody would be knocking Brassard. It makes no sense.

I thought he's looked invisible at times in some games (Isles game, even with the OT pass) and has looked great in the other (Pitts). A very streaky player.

The entire team goes in streaks. Lately, they have been on a good one, statistically, if not really looking great when you watch the plays on the ice.

It's a team game. No point in saying Brassard does not look good, when the entire team often looks bad.

I guess we all have our own ideas, but I think Brassard makes the team better, same as I think Zuccarello makes the team better, each player with their own warts and all.

I guess I'm just a bitter person lol. I am still disgusted over the Gaborik trade and Brassard is somehow the centerpiece in the trade. I didn't want to see Gabo traded and definitely not for Brassard. From watching him play and CBJ fans' displeasure over his development made my blood boil when the trade was announced.

I was a Gaborik supporter, for sure.

Still, I cannot ignore the fact that the trades made by deadline really seem to have helped. Gaborik, a player I have always loved watching, was now gone but I had to just roll with it.

I like Brassard, I like Moore. I know pretty much nothing about Dorsett, but it sounds good.

Oh I get it. You didn't want Gabby traded so you're now trying to rationalize your opinion on the trade by hating on Brassard. Instead of you know enjoying it now and waiting to see what happens you're telling everyone how much he sucks in order to justify your own opinion about the Gabby trade. You seem to be convinced that he's streaky and will suck in no time, but you can't even look not 100% correct for a few weeks. You have to tell everyone RIGHT NOW how much he will suck, because otherwise for a short period of time, it looks like you may have not been 100% right.

The thing is, who we brought in fit the style more. Brassard will get in on the plays and will move his feet more, as we've seen. Moore is a good skater and is actually competent with the puck. It's nice. If he progresses as such we will be pretty happy. Also with Dorsett, he's a tough customer with benefits, so he'll end up replacing Asham or Pyatt. I still think the trade was good overall for us, because we traded someone who just couldn't cut it here anymore for players who added much needed depth, strength and fit.

I agree totally, and that was my point. It just took me a bit of getting used to Gaborik not being a Blueshirt.

Although I have liked Asham, I really do see that there is no way that he should be on this squad next season. I do keep an open mind.

Asham's shown no reason to keep him, I agree. Dorsett will probably come in take over in that role. He isn't just a slow gorilla.

Gaborik was gone regardless it seems. Torts and him didnt get along. if there is anyone to be upset with its the Rangers and Sather, not the guys like Brassard and Moore who have come in here and done a damn good job so far, but I do get it.. :/

Disagree. Asham should play. Pyatt should sit.
Every day of the week

I was Asham's biggest critic around the time he was injured, but he really proved me wrong

I feel like people are only getting on the guy cuz of his penalty that led to a goal against last night

Not at all. Just looking forward. Next season, do you see Asham on the Rangers? I don't, and I like Asham. I can't see his value rising; it will only decrease and rightly so.

I hope he helps us a lot in the near future, though.
