There's too much stat watching swaying opinion in this thread I think. Kloten has scored at a 2.08 goal per game pace this season, which would place them firmly last in the NHL behind Chicago who are scoring at a 2.12 gpg pace. For a dman like Reinbacher who produces through his transition play, you aren't going to have much production if your team can't score.
Has his season been disappointing? Yeah, a bit, and that's from someone who wanted him pre-draft and has advocated for him since. But while it was disappointing, I'm not worried yet. There were too many factors this year that may have negatively affected him to get a proper read. His early season knee/wrist injuries, the fact that he was probably a little out of shape due to the way he put on weight, his team being dogshit, his schooling/work, and the pressure of going from an unknown to a top draft pick for probably the craziest fan base in the league. I'm more interested in seeing how he plays over here after having some time to adapt and work with our staff.
I think our management team is targeting big, smart, toolsy players like Slaf and Reinbacher with the idea of allowing the development team they've put together to mold these guys into beasts.
