Kreider and Zibanejad had a lot of success together last year. If you're going to change the lines why would you not first go to that? It's a combination that we know works. This is the New York Rangers. Not the New York Kakkos.

By this logic, they should have swapped Panarin and Kreider, to fall back on the KZB line. That's what worked

I've been saying this since the day we signed Panarin. Playing him and Zibanejad on the same line is a bad plan with the state of our centers.

Spreading the talent would be good to give us some depth. What Quinn is doing reminds me a lot of Torts trying desperately to create that juggernaut line with Gaborik, Richards and Nash.

Kreider is being showcased. That's the reason for his promotion, they dont want to give him a Hayes contract, Philly would like a mulligan on that now too. The problem is that there are only a certain number of teams that can take money on now.

Our centers are just too weak to stack the top line. Boston can get away with it because they have Krejci who can center the 2nd line. It works for Colorado who now has Kadri there but Colorado also gives an absolute ton of ice time to that line. We have nothing like that at 2C but Panarin can act as a substitute. We know KZB has been a good line. Put Panarin on the "second" line with Kakko and he will basically negate the weakness at 2C.

Perhaps he is simply not letting youngsters get into roles that they 10 have not earned 2) are not ready for?

Come again? There ARE things that are "non-negotiable". The faster Kakko learns that the better.

The youngsters are going to come against players that have more talent. That is where the "non-negotiables". Come in. Herb Brooks said it best.
Yes, there are things that are non-negotiable like being 18 and having too much skill.

So he should have a different set of rules than all the other players because you claim he is too much skill? One set for everyone and a set of Kakko rules? Kakko rule stating that he needs to do nothing else that is demanded of each and every other player?

Howden has a different set of rules.

Any suggestions as to who you would get as coach those of you that want a new one? Someone that's available

Quinn just needs to stop coaching like a college coach. He has to get it through his thick head that you can't put highly skilled, creative players like Kakko with up and down forwards like Kreider. Or forwards like Buchnevich who has the hockey IQ of a grapefruit. You need to put him with players like Panarin and Zibanejad. Hopefully one day like Kravtsov and Chytil. Andersson despite being a euro plays an up and down game lik e Kreider. Chytil is lighting up the AHL so hopefully he will be back. Lettieri should have made the team. He looked much better last year in his last few games. Honestly, he should be a fixture on the second PP unit because he actually shoots the puck and can hit the net and score.

Minnesota is going to have a fire sale. If I could trade Buchnevich for Greenway I do it. You might even be able to get a second or third rounder back as well. This team is too european and is soft. Buchnevich is a less talented version of Kovalev. Pass. Staal needs to be sent to the minors if they can't dump him. He is done here. We are seeing now why Strome can't stick on a team. He isn't motivated.

You mean to say "in your opinion", right? Because that is all you have is your opinion. Seems to me that other opinions differ from yours.

Find me 5 people here who think Kreider has been better than Kakko this season so far, and I will admit I was wrong.

Howden has a different set of rules.
Of course. It is completely logical to presume that Quinn loves Howden so much that he gives one set of rules for the entire team, including long term veterans and one set of rules just for Brett Howden. How crazy of me not to make the connection.

You want me to find 5 fans on a message board who think that an 18 year old rookie should be playing on the top line? THAT is a way to validate your position? Really? Come on, AK. You are FAR better than that. That type of argument was like the genius who claimed that the amount of "likes" he has means that his argument is valid.

Ok, let me ask you then. Do you think Kreider has been better than Kakko so far this season?

I think that he has been no worse and if I was the coach of the team, I would 100% go with the veteran with the track record ahead of a pretty mundane 18 year old.

Kakko has looked better than Buchnevich and Kreider but this is sort of like a rookie QB situation. You really don't want to make him The Guy until you're sure he's going to keep it. This is NYC it'll be a media gongshow if he gets first line reps then gets demoted.

Fixed it for you.
