4th liners are how you judge a rebuild?Smith, Haley, McKegg in the forward group. Yep, totally "rebuilding" roster to me, so far.

1 player has a track record and coach's trust. One does not. Want to differentiate between the two?Kakko apparently has to earn it, unlike Kreider
What is your proposition for who should be playing 5-6 minutes on the 4th line? The fact that anyone within this organization thinks it's acceptable to dress Gregg McKegg, Michael Haley and Brendan Smith in the year 2019 is frightening.
Already? What are the clear cut wrong moves that as a coach, he made?I think Quinn has a long road of him if he wants to be an NHL coach for much longer.
Please spell them out. And if it the only thing you can come up with is the composition of the 4th line, please state your alternatives and why they would make a material difference. How soVery confusing moves, very confusing roster decisions.
This was spelled out for you during the summer. In addition to bringing in two big name players, you also lost two big name players. You are icing a defense with 2 rookies, an at best #4 in Skjei, an at best #6 in Staal and DeAngelo who has still to learn to play proper defense. You are the youngest team in the league by FAR.If we brought in 2 big name players aren't we supposed to be better, not worse?

Depends how you look at it. Kreider's performance this year doesn't warrant a promotion to top line, but then again neither does anyone else's. On the other hand Kreider has previously played well with Zib and shown that he can handle 1st line duties, plus his playstyle should work well with Zib & Panarin. I think everyone, including DQ, knows that this isn't ideal but sometimes you have to try things out. That said, I can't see this being a long term solution and personally I'd think of splitting Zib and Panarin for a more balanced offence, but who knows if that would work either.Kreider being promoted to the top line, out of position, after the way he performed makes no sense.
He needs to watch a Reid press conference. Shoulder the public blame, and do your calling out in practice. My biggest gripe to what Quinn said in that video is just how he went about as saying
Someone on Twitter I follow described it like, have some tact and cushion the blow a little bit, use different words and be a bit more supporting of him publicly.
He has to know saying something like this is going to get people up in arms
It did make sense from the standpoint of adding a guy who can hold onto the puck down low and create some space for his linemates, and that line was probably our best. It's a bit awkward having Kreider on his off-wing but there's not many great options on that line.Kreider being promoted to the top line, out of position, after the way he performed makes no sense.

Plus, for better or worse, we’re counting on him to carry a huge part of a second line. Right now he’s cold and not very confident. Give him some time with the top guys to get some mojo working and see if he can carry it back to the second line.It did make sense from the standpoint of adding a guy who can hold onto the puck down low and create some space for his linemates, and that line was probably our best. Just what you wanna hear

how did they overachieveSo last year Quinn got a crappy team to play hard every night and overachieve but after 4 games this season he needs to go?
Yeah but that doesn't fit the narrative that Quinn is bad, so...also i don’t understand the idea that Kreider got “promoted” . Why look at it that way? Mixing up lines to find better chemistry is good and moving into a position with more potential chemistry shouldn’t be ignored because “they didn’t earn it”
Well I'm not really sure what point you're making as a) all three of those players have only played 1 game together, b) Smith has actually been good, and c) David Quinn is not the person who signed them.So let's just be clear here since you're not really addressing what I said and I just want to understand your position - you like icing a roster where three of our forwards are McKegg, Haley and Smith?
And promoting an 18 year old with 5 games of NHL experience who has not exactly set the world afire makes more sense?Kreider being promoted to the top line, out of position, after the way he performed makes no sense.
They should have been much worse and they did not concede an inch.how did they overachieve
they were one of the worst teams in the league in results and on paper

Come again? There ARE things that are "non-negotiable". The faster Kakko learns that the better.Didn't care that he did it to Chytil and Andersson because they're not getting by on talent alone.
In regards to Kakko, can take "non-negotiable" and stick it up his ass.
I LOVE Kakko's potential but let's not fool ourselves. He has been simply ok. Noting more. He also has played the game as if he weighs 94 instead of 194. He has done exactly diddly squat to show that he has earned a shot at the top line.Kakko has played better than Kreider. If you're going to replace Buchnevich with one of them, it should be the one who has played better.

Kakko has not been great. Kreider has not been great. All things being equal, the guy with the track record is going to get the so-called promotion ahead of the 18 year old with absolutely no track record.I never said Kakko has been great. But he has been better than Kreider. That's my point. If you're going to promote one of the two, it should not be Kreider
