I’m not in disagreement with any of that. My only issue was the notion that people didn’t care about the player deployment when we were off to a hot start. You’re right, this is the season we’re going to have. It’s still worthy of discussion. I’m not angry or having a hard time living with this reality, I’m just here to talk about the team.

I mean, are these cut and dry decisions at this point? Lias Andersson is the no brainer second line center? Cmon. He'll be given his opportunity in due time. And if/when he falters, Quinn will be a bonehead for not putting someone else there.

No definitely not, and like I said, I’m just discussing what we have to discuss thus far. Even moving away from Lias though, when your PP is 0-6 and Kreider and Buch are struggling, why not mix it up? Whether that’s putting Kaako, Fox, DeAngelo or a combination of them with Z and Panarin, it can’t possibly be worse. And, as you’ve said, it’s not a big deal at this point in the year and I’m not sitting here fuming over it; it’s just what we have to discuss after last nights game. Could different combos work better? Is Kreider a fit on the PP? How would Fox as a distributor with Trouba and Z and Panarin all as shooting options look? Just talking about the limited action we’ve seen. Not calling for a panic.

Wait, seriously? We are talking about Quenneville? And this is not a joke?

1) WHY would Quenneville come to a rebuilding team? And why would have come to a team prior to the coming of Panarin and Trouba?
2) Since when is Quennevill considered a developmental coach?

3) What exactly has Quinn done wrong? Quibble about a few things, but this is the youngest team in the league. Despite the acquisitions of big name players, this is still a developmental team. You are still looking at a lottery team. What coach is going to do better?

You have a defense with two rookies, a Staal on his last legs, DeAngelo who is still learning to play defense and Skjei who looks to be over matched as a top line defender. What are you expecting?

Well for one having a proper break-out model would probably help. Yesterday and in previous games that I've seen, the players were all over the ice, resulting in hail Mary stretch passes to players, who surrounded or heading towards the boards and unable to do anything productive with it. That is, if the puck ever gets to them. Players would also often end up in a bunch on the same side. If Quinn is not in charge of the offensive system and another assistant is, then they need someone better there. A better team would have torn the Devils apart last night.

These lines suck. Why have Buch/Kreider on their wrong wings when the simplest thing they can do is move Kakko to the first.

Good for you. I, on the other hand, am at peace with the reality that:

1. The center depth is hot garbage behind Zbad
2. The defense is largely garbage/very young behind Trouba
3. This is still a rebuilding roster and painfully thin

It's going to be a game of musical chairs. Deal with it.

Rebuilding roster that has the 2017 No. 7 pick on the fourth line when he's earned more playing time and two other first-round picks in the AHL after the trade of one of their top nine forwards going into the season.

Smith, Haley, McKegg in the forward group. Yep, totally "rebuilding" roster to me, so far.

You guys are really going to ride a coach for not taking an 18-year-old w/ 4 games of experience and putting him on the 1st line? And after all the incessant complaining about Buchnevich being there instead? Just makes it seem like people were only crapping on Buchnevich so much because he was taking "Kakko's spot." This is what I said in the PGT: move Kreider back to the 1st line with Zibanejad; Getting Kreider's game going is far more important than Kakko's right now. People were just whinging about Lemieux not playing too. Where's the patience? It took 3 games to change the 2C. If Quinn made adjustment any faster than everyone would be riding him for juggling the lines and not building chemistry.

I know we don't see the practice and off-ice stuff, but I'm have a hard time understanding: (1) Strome and Howden over Andersson and Chytil; (2) scratching Lemieux against the Devils; and (3) Smith as 3LF and sixth skater. I'm getting Mickey Callaway vibes.
Honestly I thought Smith looked pretty good there.

If I recall when we were 2-0 with Zbad on pace for a million points we were still saying too much Strome, what has Howden done to earn ice time, why doesn’t Lias get a shot with actual wingers and how is Staal still our top shutdown guy?
Every time Howden makes a good play it's crickets on here.

wait, did you just ignore the part about Quinn not rolling 4 lines as promised? Why did we get this guy to roll 3 lines and rely heavily on top line vets?

For all the heat AV took for dressing Tanner Glass at least he only had one pointless tough guy pet project. Quinn has 3.

The fact that anyone within this organization thinks it's acceptable to dress Gregg McKegg, Michael Haley and Brendan Smith in the year 2019 is frightening.
Brendan smith has played very well and kills penalties as a defenseman.... I hate to bring up the whole... Are you even watching the games argument... But... Well... Are you even watching the games. Brendan smith is the least of our worries.

Smith has been relatively good, and he provides a nice little cheat code by sparing one of the actual defensemen PK minutes.

I hate to bring up the whole... Did you even read my post argument... But... Well... Do you think it's logical to have all three of those players dressed at the same time?

Just what you wanna hear

I think Quinn has a long road of him if he wants to be an NHL coach for much longer. Are we competing or rebuilding? Very confusing moves, very confusing roster decisions. If we brought in 2 big name players aren't we supposed to be better, not worse?

Haley played one game. I don't see any issue with dressing McKegg and Smith at all. :help:

So let's just be clear here since you're not really addressing what I said and I just want to understand your position - you like icing a roster where three of our forwards are McKegg, Haley and Smith?

I do. I wish we had a few more players like Haley and mckegg in the lineup to be honest.

But then again I'm dying to see byfield as a ranger...

My thing is, why is smith brought up in your argument. He's been good. Not just adequate or something but legitimately good out there.

It's like saying, do you want a lineup that has mckegg smith Haley and panarin in it?

I'd say, yes. Because smith and panarin have been really good.

I think mckegg is a solid 4th line player. Haley sucks, but not enough to make me really upset.

The bigger issue is lias playing on the 4th line despite playing very well. That's a much better argument. I just don't see smith or mckegg being negatives out there.

My biggest gripe to what Quinn said in that video is just how he went about as saying

Someone on Twitter I follow described it like, have some tact and cushion the blow a little bit, use different words and be a bit more supporting of him publicly.

He has to know saying something like this is going to get people up in arms

I think Quinn is doing what Gorton asked him to do and part of that is to raise trade value of dead weight. Kreider, Strome, maybe Buchnevich, Fast, yes Fast. I bet some fans would overpay for this guy as a UFA, but let's face it, some stupid team will. I bet they want to raise their trade value. On Skjei he is too inconsistent in my opinion. He needs to sit a game. Maybe that'll wake him up. He should play more like Trouba. He needs to be more hungrier. Trouba and Fox has been great. DeAngelo has been good but defensively can be better. Missing camp has hurt him in my opinion.
Look we all know they should have bought out Staal instead of Girardi. But he is here make us lose for the higher draft pick. Most other teams would have found a way to get rid of Marc Staal. He really sucks now. I doubt he goes anywhere. On Gorton I don't get why Haley is on this team. Why couldn't get a tough guy with skill or a power forward lite like a Lawson Crouse, or even a Kyle Clifford would have been better who is an UFA this summer.

Clearly the sole purpose of hiring Quinn was to roll 4 lines. Or at a minimum, the most important aspect of his coaching prowers.
