Anyone hoping that Buchnevich and Kreider play badly in the same game so they both get moved to the fourth line so we can have Kreider - Andersson - Buchnevich playing together for like 3 minutes?

I think that he has been no worse and if I was the coach of the team, I would 100% go with the veteran with the track record ahead of a pretty mundane 18 year old.
You're delusional if you think that the way Kakko stick handles is mundane. His hands are incredible and he is going to grow into a beast.

All the talk about who has earned what is kind of missing the fact that outside of Mika and Panarin, no forward has earned very much yet.

Someone like Kakko, the idea of putting him on the top line would be to get him going and hopefully let him score some points and build some confidence with the big guys.

You can go by who earns what when you have multiple guys close to earning top roles. The fact is we don’t right now and there’s something to be said for setting lines based on different strategies and types of thinking.

I said that his play overall has been mundane. Which is has. Sorry, but if you think he has been spectacular, that is just watching with fanboy glasses on.

What part did I miss where we started to discuss his hands and what he is or isn't going to be?

He hasn't played with a center who can create space. That's not a fanboy comment. Every winger needs a center to help set up plays.

We really don't know what Kakko can do in the NHL as a playmaker until he is given a linemate who can possess the puck and dish it to him.

Can we be fair here? In 6 games Kakko has 1 goal, 8 shots, and a 43 CF% at 5v5. He hasn't had the puck or done much with it. He looked good on the PP yet. He has done very little to show that he should be moved up to the top line. The fact that he is not there is not some egregious error if you look at the history of 1/2 picks the vast majority of them are not there to start. Moving Kreider up over him is not surprising in the least. Fast is a bit weird but the line hasn't been good defensively and I assume the reason is to add a defensive presence to it.
Fast and Zibanejad played together a lot last season, and Fast played an amazing game yesterday.

yeah he sucks eggs offensively and defensively but he’s doing whatever nebulous crap Quinn wants so what’s the problem ?
A student that shows up on time every week, volunteers in class, respects rules and regulations and gets an F on every assignment fails the class.

An employee that never takes a day off, is a good team member, is professional at all times, and sets everyone back with their incompetence gets fired.

Hell, a player in any other sport who busts his nut in practice, is great in the room, and knows the system inside out but sucks at the sport doesn't play.

I'll never understand why hockey is different.

He just benched Skjei for a period and demoted Buchnevich only 24 hours ago.
Brady is 25 and still RFA elligbale if he needed a contract at the end of this season. not even close to a vet. Buch is 24 and is an RFA next contract. If thats your idea of a vet you have no place in this conversation. But please tell me why brady got sat and staal didn't? Brady took a penalty that was a mistake by the ref and not his fault at all. it rattled him and he made a mistake and sat. Stsaal directly led to the 2nd goal from his bad play. Then after getting hosed by their PP took a greedy and selfish retaliation penalty and didnt even miss a shift. Explain that please. I am more then happy to wait.

Maybe they want street justice?
Maybe we don't consider players like BUch has has just over 2 seaons worth of games played a vet. Maybe we don't consider players like Brady who have 3 seasons worth of games played a vet. Maybe we do consider players like Staal who have over 10 seasons of games played a vet and wonder why when he directly leads to a goal then takes a selfish and greedy retaliation penalty he doesnt even miss a shift.

To be honest, I can't remember the last time Staal missed a game (not related to injury) much less a shift.

I am not stupid. I know DQ will murder his entire family and live stream it before ever sitting staal. I just don;t think it is much to ask for a coach who isnt a coward and can make the tough decisions when they need to be made. Sending Krav and Chytil down was smart. Krav was clearly struggling with the speed of the game and Chytil was visibly struggling. Playing smith on the 3rd and giving staal 20+ a game is not. Smith takes 1 or more stupid as shit penalties a game. Most don't need to be taken. He gets beaten clean on the boards when he is defending so acting like he can play two way forward game is a stretch. Staal although not as bad as he was 2 years ago is a train wreck this season and should be the 6th defender not the 2nd. Last game he was easily the worst player on the team and got to get more minutes while younger players had to pay for making mistakes less dangerous then his. Its a god damn joke.

This coach isnt a good fit. I dont like the way hes handling the kids.

I want Chytil up and Smith sent down.

This guy needs to go.

Sadly, Smith has been much better as a forward than a d-man --
