That was because he pulled a couple of those out of his backpack to have a little snack on the team bus.

I don't agree. I think this termination is more about Quinn simply not getting the best out of his top two lines in important games. And that's a valid reason to replace him, even though I think he's done a great job with the kids, Zib and Buch

all of this needed to be done. A total circus for two years Dolan saw it, he had what many consider to be a star GM in the making (Drury) waiting in wings and he pulled the trigger.

Dolan believes he knows basketball. He feels he can help the knicks (he doesn’t) He has a passion for basketball. I have met the man many times I’ve been invited to his suite I’ve talked to him about hockey. He wants to win but he admits he knows very little about the game. He trusted sather to do the work because he didn’t want to be involved. People seem to think otherwise but it’s not the case when it comes to hockey.

what he clearly didn’t like was seeing his proud franchise look like a circus for 2 years after sather stepped down and clearly a lack of loyalty.

He did exactly the right thing. And Drury is doing exactly the right thing now. Firing a guy that had no idea what he was doing at the nhl level. His next move should be to fire Gordie Clark too.

He also has a Gagarin Cup, a Calder Cup, an NLA title, a QMJHL championship, and a CJHL championship to go along with the Stanley Cup.

Yeah it's older... but he's a proven winner. That's what we want. BUT Is his 'style' up to snuff? Has he adapted analytic and 'new wave' of skills coaching?

Too bad most coaches don't seem to learn from their mistakes and are too stubborn to change or even modify their philosophies even a little bit. If Torts was neutered by about a third think he'd be a hit

Since we’re doing all the things, I think it would be best to have someone skate out on opening night with the “C” too. I think the lack of captaincy has become a liability. When it all goes wrong, the weight of needing to lead falls upon the man deemed leader. The Rangers don’t have that person, and I think that’s at the very least played a small part in the listless performances against top divisional foes throughout this past season.

I look forward to them re-airing games from the Quinn era in the future so I can continue to not understand what the Rangers were trying to do.

"Hey look we have two forwards in deep. Oh but they aren't forechecking. Wait now there is only one guy in deep. We look like we're trying to trap. But where are the defensemen? They must be changing. No, its the same pair. They're just all the way back by the defensive zone. Now they are backing into the zone and letting the opposition in unopposed. This appears to be strategic. Here comes the transition. The forward and the defenseman just bumped into each other. We can't get through this neutral zone so we dumped the puck but nobody seemed to expect it to happen and nobody went to get it. We're back to sort of forechecking. We have decent pressure this shift... oh wait thats because we had nine players on the ice."

And yet when I look back at say Torts, and I see 5 guys blocking shots, til they are exhausted, then a dump in and change to watch the next 5 guys block shots.

Or with AV where 3 or 4 Rangers are behind their own net covering 2 opposing players and one of those two still wins the puck. Or one opposing player carries the puck from deep in the O-zone to near the blue line and everyone on D is firehouse changing coverage to pick up all the wrong people.

I think a lot of posters are re-writing the narrative here with rose-colored glasses.

We're less than a year removed from the Rangers agreeing to let Drury interview with other teams for GM vacancies and nobody seemed to really care.
